I walked shoulder-to-shoulder on the streets of Illinois towns, pushing doorbells and handing out literature with my friend Phyllis Schlafly and her troops of conservative women who had heeded her battle cry.

This was in the ERA battle decades ago, and she was the leading-light nationwide in defeating the liberal attempt to hijack the Constitution.

Phyllis was in attendance at one of our FReeper banquets in DC some years ago. She is a FOUNDING MOTHER of today's conservative movement. It's disgusting to hear of the foul take-over of her signature organization and of Cruz siccing his dogs on her in such a disrespectful fashion.

She’s an icon & has been right on so many issues. I hope the rest of her family can rally around her. I’m astounded at the depths of depravity the Cruz people will stoop to. I listen to these Cruz people call my local talk radio show & the filth that comes out of their mouths...who are these people, really ?

She lives in my husband’s home town. I always wondered if I’d spot her in the grocery store when we visited his folks.
