If it succeeds in blocking a guy their grass roots supports want as a nominee, it should die. People like Graham, Boenher, McConnell, Cornyn,etc. did it. The GOP plan is to nominate Kasich on the third ballot at a “contested” convention and select Marco Rubio as his running mate.
I’m guessing the GOP offered Cruz a SCOTUS nomination if Kasich wins and/or heavy financial support for his Senate re-election campaign.
The GOP believes the “base” will “get over it, “ support Kasich/Rubio, and vote against Hillary. If Hillary wins anyway the GOP still wins.

My long term hope is thu the force of the Donald’s campaign he will break off pro American Republicans, the middle class and disaffected non-socialist blue collar Democrats and form a new American Party.
