Warwick, RI

Warwick (Listeni/ˈwɒrɪk/ WORR-ik, more locally /ˈwɔːrwɪk/) is a city in Kent County, Rhode Island, United States. It is the second largest city in the state, with a population of 82,672 at the 2010 census. Its mayor has been Scott Avedisian since 2000. Founded by Samuel Gorton in 1642, Warwick has witnessed major events in American history.

The City of Warwick (and T.F. Green Airport) is located approximately 12 miles (19 km) south of downtown Providence, 63 miles (101 km) southwest of Boston, Massachusetts, and 171 miles (275 km) northeast of New York City.

Warwick was decimated during King Philip's War (1675–76) and was the site of the Gaspee Affair, a significant prelude to the American Revolution. Warwick is also the home of revolutionary war general Nathanael Greene, George Washington's second-in-command, and the Civil War hero of the battle of Gettysburg, General George S. Greene.

Wilkes-Barre, PA

Wilkes-Barre was founded in 1769 and formally incorporated in 1806. The city grew rapidly after the discovery of nearby coal reserves and the arrival of hundreds of thousands of immigrants. The city reached the height of its prosperity in the first half of the 20th century when its population reached just over 86,000. Following World War II, the city's economy declined and the Knox Mine disaster accelerated this trend when large portions of the area's coal mines were flooded. Today the city has a population of 41,498, making it the 13th largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

No Today’s Trivia as I can barely keep up with this man posting where the rallies are with a few photos. So, like in times past, let’s spend the day in prayer and meditation for Trump and his family, our precious country and the people that are the forum. Has anyone heard from our dear friend WVKayaker? He’s down under and was down under. Let’s also give thanks to Jim Robinson for having the insite year’s ago to start this wonderful site. More than ever, it’s been a welcome retreat for many of us these past difficult 8 years.

If you haven't become a monthly donor do so, even for $5 per month.

I just saw the same thing. Amazing to see all of that water being released! I hope our lakes can stay at healthy levels for a while before another drought cycle.

Great story!

At the end of the opera, Iago, one of the best villains ever written in theater or opera, gets arrested and whisked away. In Franco Zefferelli's film production, he gets impaled by Otello's sword.

I always imagined Iago sneaking away, retiring to one of those little islands in the Mediterranean and spending the rest of the life pulling the wings off flies.

Most of my aunts and uncles went to Kingston High and then to Wyoming Valley West after they regionalized. A few to Bishop Hoban which is now closed. Others to Myers and Coughlin, but nobody to Wyoming Seminary.

Here is Bryn Terfel as Iago in a concert performance of the great aria, "I Believe in a Cruel God." He catches the satanic edge of the lyrics. Verdi later wrote his Four Sacred Pieces to atone for the profanity of this aria.

Verdi: Otello, "I Believe in a Cruel God"

I only like thin crust, eat it with my hands, and calling it "pizza pie", is saying PIE PIE. LOL

You know what food you should celebrate instead? CHICAGO HOT DOGS ROLLS WITH POPPYSEEDS! They're WONDERFUL and NOT found anywhere on the East Coast.

In New England, we have square hot dog rolls ( the ONLY kind that one should use for a lobster roll !), but we also have the rounded ones, here in Ct. too. From N.Y. down, they only have the rounded ones.

"Bill Mitchell ‏@mitchellvii 3m3 minutes ago Whoops. Looks like Cruz's "victory" in CO just went to sh*t... " I just read that thread. According to the Boulder County GOP chair their were numerous "errors" in the selection of the delegates for Ted Cruz. She thinks there might be a re-do. I hope they do it with a state wide election.

I have seen Pepperidge Farm Split top hot dog buns, but I don’t think they’re squre or rectangular...I, being a Hick in TX thought “who’d want a weird bun like that?” They just seemed unnatural.
