Trump should demonstrate his mastery of rhetoric again in a one-on-one debate.

Cruz won’t debate. He whined and ran away from Hannity last week when challenged on the issues. Cruz just uses the “debates” to dump his talking point slime buckets on Trump. Trump called time on this nonsense and Cruz is the only one to blame for it.

Trump debates by belittling his opponent. He reminds me of the guy in Animal House. “Are we going to stand here and listen to them belittle the United States of America”? It is like the neighborhood big mouth that can out scream you until you walk away wishing he would just shut up. For the life of me, I don’t see what others see. I will likely vote for him, but he is just an empty shell others place their hopes into, like Obama.

This is a good point. His inability to deal with Sean's simple question made him look terrible.

——He can’t even destroy Hannity. Hannity destroyed Cruz big time for lying.

Apples and Oranges.....

That wasn’t a debate....I listened to it live...

It wasn’t Cruz most shining moment, but Cruz wasn’t destroyed by Hannity....

They talked over each other so much, it was hard to understand who was saying what...

Calling someone that voters support Lyin’ Ted is not an insult? Trump does nothing BUT insult anyone standing against him.

I have zero doubt that I could wipe the floor with Cruz if I debated him, and I supported him. Politicians just aren’t very impressive.

Either Trump or Cruz would be better than the unthinkable Hillary. I am really disappointed that there has been so much bad blood. Without unity or indictment, she is the next prez. God help us all.

Here’s some miscellaneous remarks concerning stump’s statement about debating.

Trump doesn’t debate. He manages.

The presidential race should be called the national liar’s contest.

Cruz participated in individual events and won a championship between a small number of schools in the US and Canada. He was not on any championship two-man debate teams that participated in the National Debate Tournament (NDT). Somewhat like calling yourself a college football star without never having played in an NCAA game.

I believe he was in the parliamentary debate circuit, as opposed to the "on topic" stuff. Those ARE two man teams. I was in parliamentary debate, the "small number of schools" are Yale, Harvard, McGill, U of Toronto, U of Chicago, Amherst, Annapolis, Princeton, Smith, and also small unheralded northeastern schools (Pace, PRI). There's also the world championships, which is usually held in places like Scotland.

I would consider the parliamentary style better preparation for a political setting than the "on topic" style with the stacks of index cards (if that's what you are referring to). To use the college football analogy, the parliamentary style would be more like a college team with a pro-style offense, where the "on topic" style would be more like a Nebraska type team that does well, but does not prepare quarterbacks for the pro game so well (see Eric Crouch).

Ted picked his own nickname through his actions. If he'd been Honest Ted it wouldn't have stuck to him like glue.

...will reject the Left’s premises and narratives, and completely destroy their talking points. He will hand you your @ss in a debate.
And then amend and vote for their bill...and claim he was lied to.

He has;

Cruz: “Donald donated to crooked politicians”
Trump: I donated to you”

Ted is not nearly as brilliant a debater as people make him out to be.

"I'm sure Trump knows this: In an actual debate format you can't interrupt your opponent every four minutes... "

But in life you can, and as a president, there are no debate rules. There are no rules whatsoever.

Without rules, it seems, Cruz can't accomplish much. Debate Rules, Delegate Rules ...

I knew people on the debate team in college. I cannot think of any of them I would want in political office.

Sorry,,I was hoping we had moved on to confronting Hillary.

Are we still allowing the MSM to yank our chains and stay stuck in the Trump vs Cruz match?

No thanks.

Man I really miss those debates. I rather wish Trump would slaughter Cruz one more time.

The other great part of those debates was no mater how well they stocked the crowd with people to boo and interrupt Trump he always turned it into a positive. The man is quick on his feet.

Hero? Cruz is no hero to me, though I think he is vastly superior to Donald Trump. The hero worship is thick in the Trumpster universe though. When he follows through on his promises on border fence, deporting millions of immigrants, and being very careful with Muslim refugees, I will cheer. Until those three things happen though, I will poke at the Trump lackeys who will blame Congress, the Senate, or the lack of support from within the State/INS/Pentagon and MSM for his failure. “I have tried to balance the budget with all my might, but it was not possible” said Billy boy. Trump likely will say something similar about his broken promises. The truth is, he can’t do it without allies. Who is lining up to ally with him? Answer is....NOBODY.
