North Carolina and Mississippi See Tourist Backlash After L.G.B.T. Laws
New York Times ^ | April 22, 2016 | Shivani Vora

The reaction has been swift.

The singer Bryan Adams canceled his concert in Mississippi in protest against what he called an “anti-L.G.B.T.” law, and the actress Sharon Stone decided not to film a movie there. In North Carolina, Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr, Pearl Jam and Ani DiFranco have canceled shows in response to a law regulating transgender bathroom access.

While the celebrity response is drawing considerable attention, the travel industry in each state is more concerned about lower-profile visitors: the everyday tourists who have already begun canceling trips or planning vacations elsewhere.

Both states have been hit by hotel cancellations from tourists who spend a combined tens of billions of dollars annually, and though the effect is difficult to quantify so early on, local hotels, tourist boards, industry associations and government officials fear that a boycott will continue to dampen business. Making matters tougher for the businesses, the Foreign Office in Britain has issued an advisory for L.G.B.T. travelers going to the two states based on the laws.

The impact is already being felt in North Carolina, which last month passed a law that limits transgender people to using bathrooms that match the sex on their birth certificates. Tourism is a crucial driver of the economy in the state, the sixth most-visited in the country, where domestic travelers spent a record $21.3 billion in 2014, according to Visit North Carolina, the state’s tourist board.

In Charlotte, which has a large convention center, more than 20 conventions have either canceled or are no longer considering holding their event in the state, resulting in a loss of around $2.5 million according to the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority.

So it’s okay for them to deny business to people they don’t agree with ... but bakers must bake cakes for gay weddings? O.o

Find out who the entities are that are cancelling, and punish them in turn.

Two can play that game.

This shouldn’t be surprising to Christians but one can’t help but be amazed at just how quickly our society has rotted from the inside. Revelation has foretold how none will be able to buy, sell or do business unless they bow to the wishes and evils of The Beast and his minions.

In Roman times Christians were fed to lions and wild beasts. Innocents were given as sacrifices to evil gods. It’s not much different now. Every decency, by law has been overturned to accommodate and justify the lusts and perversions of evildoers. It’s not just the Christian faith that’s under attack but decency itself. Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus! Surely it can’t be much longer.

Woe be to those “minorities” that have cast their lot with these devils and likened themselves to each other as “discriminated against” and “victims” of oppression by those that abhore their filthy practices. Hasten the day that Our Lord removes them from among us.

Until then, I’m afraid that we haven’t seen the worst for ouselves and our families. We should pray that we don’t fall among those who give in or justify them for worldly gain as many businesses are doing. Losing money or a business is nothing compared to the loss of ones soul.
Stay strong.

On the other hand, the DNC held their convention there in 2012 and, like all good spenders of other people's money, stiffed Charlotte for several million dollars.

PayPal is canceling a call center that was gong to employ 400 customer service reps. They’re going to move it to Cuba - the center of human rights.

Marriott CEO came out with a strong position but I’m not sure what proposed to do. Marriott, of course, has hotels all over the middle east. I wonder why he thinks NC is worse than countries that stone rape victims and throw gays off of high buildings.

Maybe somebody can post a list of companies who are boycotting the states.

Of course they are pouring money into s-—holes like Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Anything anti-Christian is seen as glorious while personal objections to faggotry and pedophilia is bigotry and worse.

I would love to boycott the companies in question and even more so to let them know I am doing so.

Got to stand up to bullies. Giving in just means a temporary reprieve. Screw ‘em.
