Nevermind. Some research suggests that it was the mother who was married. The writer of this article has demonstrated one of the worst cases of poor writing that I have ever seen.

Michelle Obama wants that dress, we need to stop her because she wouldn’t fit in it anyway. But she says she is being denied her right as “First Lady” to that dress because of “White Privilege”.

So the English were marring off there daughters at age 10 and delivering them at age 11.

Yes. She would have to learn the customs of her new land so she would have had tutors. They were usually considered adults by 15 or 16. Her only child was born when she was 19. She died at age 29.

Are you Calista Flockhart, by any chance?

to deliver her 11-year-old daughter to the court of William II, Prince of Orange – whom the girl married

How very....Muslim.

If the dress belonged to Kerr perhaps she was very small. It sank when she was 57 years old in 1642.

Possibly Kerr had her own younger girl with her as a lady in training or maybe it was someone else’s property.

Also, would any woman purchase clothes while on a trip? Could it be a gift for someone? Lots of possibilities.

That scarlet jacket that was recovered from the sunken warship in the Baltic was pretty cool too.

By the way, just one of her baggage ships sank? How many baggage ships does a queen need? Even Imelda Marcos could have taken all her shoes on one ship.

Henrietta Maria of France (1609-1669)
Queen consort of England, Scotland and Ireland

So few in the West read or study history any longer. My own life-long passion lives despite exposure to the decadence of the hegemony of a single philosophy of Experimentalism euphemistically labeled "Progressive Education," with its monopoly over our public schools.

Calista Flockhart...?

LOL. She's got brown eyes, she's way taller and more than twice my age!

The great Gunne Sax gowns look like Grace Kelly in High Noon. Lesser ones, like the ladies in Stepford Wives.
I have to stop. This thread is activating my shopping impulses.

I’m 5’9”, so I could only wear that vintage dress as a blouse-but somehow, I don’t think that dress was for a grown woman-the proportions seem off...

My 1st wedding dress was a Gunny Sax-and I also still have some other dresses of that brand-they fit, and are still nice as new, but that style has not been worn here in a long, long time...
