Haugland said he is a member of the rules committee at the convention and he wants a rule change at the convention so that any candidate who got even a single vote could be nominated. I deduce from that position that he is not a Trump or Cruz supporter. The only candidate that rule change benefits is Kasich.
Good point.
I forgot about Kasich. So waiting with baited breath for both to denounce this arrogant hack.
“The only candidate that rule change benefits is Kasich.”
Actually, if the rules are changed so that any candidate that has gotten a single vote could be nominated, the whole field of 17 could be nominated, which would mean that all those who won delegates but then dropped out would once again have pledged delegates that would be bound to vote for them on at least the 1st vote.
That would deny Trump from the needed 1237 on the 1st vote while providing cover for the RNC because they ‘recognized the will of the voters’ giving every candidate an opportunity to win.
And the probable mystery candidate(s) to be named later, a few hours before the roll call on the nomination. They will also seek to unbind every delegate (allowed by law according to a SCOTUS decision in 1972 that party rules prevail over statutes except in cases of racial discrimination. You take too much for granted. These folks in GOP-E are absolute snakes.
Kasich has repeatedly said that he will win the nomination at the convention. Maybe he is delusional, but I’m sure he has been assured by party members.
