The votes earned during the primary process are only estimates and are not legal convention votes. The only official votes to nominate a candidate are those that are cast from the convention floor.

This moron clearly does not know that delegates are pledged on the first ballot. That means if Trump reaches 1,237 before the convention he must win on the first ballot, unless the rules are changed to either make the delegates unpledged on the first ballot or to raise the winning threshold. Either such change would be political suicide for the Republican Party.

In some states the delegates are not pledged on the first ballot. Trump is expected to win the Pennsylvania vote, but most of their delegates are still unbound so hopefully Trump campaign is on the job there.
