Peter King: Trump is ‘more reasonable’ than 'hopeless' Cruz
Politico ^ | 4/22/16 | Nolan D. McCaskill

Peter King on Friday said he would back Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump over Ted Cruz, highlighting the billionaire as a more reasonable general-election candidate than the “phony,” “hopeless,” “irredeemable” Texas senator.

King voted for Ohio Gov. John Kasich in New York’s primary, though he also correctly predicted that Trump would score a big victory in the state Tuesday. Similarly to the way he shied away from characterizing his vote as a Kasich endorsement, King stressed Friday that he isn’t endorsing Trump but remarked that he would choose the real estate mogul over Cruz.

“But Donald Trump, to be an effective candidate in the general election, has to show substance,” King told CNN. “He has to show that he's gone just beyond, you know, the name-calling and the sound bites and, again, he's not my first choice for candidate but he's got to show that he knows what he's talking about.”

The problem with Trump is he cannot get to the threshold of 1237. Most delegates whether we like it or not are Republican Establishment with a capital E. They need to be courted and Trump thinks this is all a popularity contest. It isn’t. It never was. Cruz on the other hand has been courting them and has been working within the narrow rules to win them over. The echo of the MSM is what is driving trump support. Tack on name recognition and there is how he gets the support he needs. I bet you those early supporter have serious regret for their support for this guy and hope that 1237 doesn’t happen. That is why Cruz can clinch it on the second ballot.

The general public already is aware of that and he’s not a great messenger to bring that up as he’s donated to her campaigns. It’s similar to the effect of Romney trying to run against ObamaCare being he was the blueprint for it in Mass.

THIS + 100%

When this election year started I was so pumped with the Republican field. And then reality hit.

We are now at the point of Trump or Cruz.

I was going to vote for Cruz here in California but was willing to vote for Trump in the general if that was our final candidate.

Sad to say, I have gotten to the point where I actively, viscerally dislike Cruz.

If he becomes our candidate I will vote for him, I think, but man it would be hard to pull the lever for him.

His hatred of Cruz should be a badge of honor for the Senator. Having Peter King like you generally says you are pretty squishy on Conservative issues.

I wonder if Peter King likes Senator Jeff Sessions? Would that mean Sen. Sessions is squishy on Conservative issues? Perhaps it's just Ted? Maybe he is just not likeable. Doesn't mean he wouldn't be a good President, however, less informed voters, and many that are informed, may wish to at least like their candidate for President.

“We the people” is 50 +1. Your liberal democratic boy toy is south of 40% so no you are not We the people. In fact We the people are not Trump supporters and constitute 60% + of the voting republican party. Now that we got the math out of the way, a vote for Trump is a vote for Hillar.-Quod Erat Demonstrandum.

Look the tribe has spoken, and spoken and spoken. They will be speaking again on Tuesday in 5 primaries. Teddy will soon be heading back to the mothership with his crazy dominionsist father and Glenn Beck in tow. With Ted Cruz GTFO takes on new meaning.

So, are you now the SELF-APPOINTED or the OFFICIAL head of the THOUGHT POLICE?

I follow the lead of JimRob, he has made his position well known and I back him 110 percent.

I don't wield the ZOT-bolts around here, but I'm more than happy to provide targeting information.

Quit whining, and make up your mind what you're gonna do, ok?

I suspect that in the case of the ever dwindling numbers of Cruz supporters, it's to provide them a place to commiserate.

If what you've said about JimRob is true, then anyone who still supports Cruz should be getting zotted. Unless you've taken it upon yourself to misrepresent JimRob's opinion as official site policy.

Review his posts on the subject and you decide:

"As long as Cruz is playing soreloserman and working in tandem with the GOPe against US, he deserves all the grief we can level against him. Don’t look now but Cruz has become what he’s been fighting against. You have a choice to make."

"Cruz is underperforming. He has no shot at 1237. He can’t WIN the nomination. The only thing he can accomplish at this point is destroy the party and therefore allow Hillary to win and to destroy the nation.

Cruz is no conservative. He does not put America first. If he did, he would concede and save the nation a whole lot of turmoil. We need to stop the destruction and unite against Hillary.

There’s been a few the last few weeks. These are the ones I’ve seen. The bottom part is since JimRob’s thread on the matter. I never went to the mat with most of these folks (didn’t see the posts of most of them - this is just a list), just libbylu, but then who didn’t? I think JimRob has made himself pretty clear. That being said, after next Tuesday night, I imagine the delusion of “second-ballot-brokered-convention Ted” will still be alive in more than a couple folks still here.

That’s quite the comprehensive list, thanks for that!

And it is worth pointing out that a list of 17 of some of the more egregious Trump-hating trolls being zotted is barely a blip on the statistical radar scope, out of thousands and thousands of FReepers, zotting those jokers is no different than shaving your face every morning to clean off the stubble.

Which leads to my latest tagline ...
