Why didn't Rubio and Carson hang in there after they were mathematically eliminated?

Posted on 04/22/2016 12:47:59 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Well, for one thing, it would be counterproductive. With three, four or five candidates drawing delegates, it simply prevents anyone from getting to 1237 and ensures that the GOPe gets to install one of their own establishment guys at the convention. The malleable "rules" are designed to to preserve, protect and defend the establishment ruling class. Nothing more.

Cruz knows this. He has betrayed the grassroots.

Cruz will be lucky to get halfway there. His only chance of success involves manipulation and subterfuge that will alienate even more than the 73% of Republican voters who already reject him.
He’s really just Hillary’s stalking horse at this point and his efforts are in direct opposition to everything he supposedly stands for. He’s going to get beaten worse and worse as time goes by and more start to see him as the guy trying to throw this election for the GOPe power brokers.

You and the others who are still yearning, delusionally, for a Trump/Cruz ticket don't really understand politics nor know American political history.

Look up Jefferson/Burr and JFK and LBJ. Actually, the latter was more congenial than a Trump/Cruz team would be and they HATED each other!

Trump doesn't "need" Ted....not for ANY reason at all and it would even harm his election chances to take on Cruz!

And 3/4 have consistently opposed him before he started becoming a con man lawyer. He’s not going to get more popular.

"like what?"

If you honestly don't know, there's absolutely nothing that I could say that would convince you otherwise.

Then why isn’t there an uproar here for Kasich to drop out? BTW, who the heck is voting for this guy and why?

Cruz is already destroyed as a viable candidate for this election. He has not gained the support of enough of the VOTERS. If he stays in much longer or if he does manage by hook or crook, some miracle to get nominated it will destroy his political career.

VOTERS have not supported him in enough numbers to get him close to Trump, now VOTERS are sending him a message that he has overstayed his welcome in this race.

There is a reason for the old saying living to fight another day.

An interesting point. Kasick and Rubio have much broader appeal in the general election. Cruz played himself out of any consideration by going off the deep end when he sold out a few months ago. Not to mention that anyone not a hard core conservative thinks he’s a religious nut and he plays into every stereotype of the Southern GOP Bible thumper.

That dog won’t hunt... He couldn’t even get half the votes in his home state.

yeah, like what? she already pulled the “he hates women” lie and he shut her down right quick didn’t he?
that he’s been divorced? that he’s payed to play? he looks like a freaking SAINT compared to her.

i know she will attack, i highly suspect Trump will “punch right back”
i also highly suspect Cruz will say NOTHING that might look bad for his bosses... who are in it up to their stinking necks along side the Hellery

Agreed. I still like Allen West, or some other suitable candidate.

Sure he would. That’s just how the game is played. Nothing to get overly worked up about.

To answer the question, because they didn’t have enough money and they didn’t want to do the hard work of find second ballot delegates?

Oh come on....the MSM has tried to destroy Trump in a way that Cruz could NEVER survive and yet Trump flourishes.

A Cruz nomination ( which shan't EVER happen! ) hands the White House and both Houses of Congress to the Dem for the next generation, since the GOP joins the Whig Party on the dust heap of history!

Well that would be one way to find out for sure how many in this country really want to secure the border and deport illegals and how many want open borders and open arms to anyone that wants to come here from anywhere.

I would not recommend her because politically it becomes one issue to fight for; though personally it would not hurt my feelings.

You're NUTS and don't understand this season at all.

It's just what YOU and a very few others want, but what a majority of voters do NOT !

A year ago you couldn’t find anyone here who didn’t like Cruz, myself included. Now most but his hard core sycophants are disgusted with him. Who would have guessed?
