Trump’s border wall raises hopes in a GOP outpost of California

MURRIETA

Morning light filtered into the doughnut shop in Murrieta’s old downtown, and Bob Swinford lingered over coffee, longing for a revolution.

Immigrants from Mexico, the retired truck driver said last week, have “overrun” this corner of Riverside County, coddled by a liberal state. Among California’s offenses in his reckoning: Granting driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants and giving undocumented immigrant college students access to financial aid.

Yet in the Republican presidential primary, Swinford, 80, holds hope. His party’s front-runner, Donald Trump, can trace his rise in part to his signature policy proposal to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, and to his claim that rapists and other criminals are flooding into the United States. Both Trump and Ted Cruz, the senator from Texas, have pledged to deport immigrants living in the country illegally.

In Murrieta, a conservative outpost 80 miles from the Mexico line, the presidential primary’s sharp rhetoric serves as counterpoint to a more permissive approach to immigration in this heavily Democratic state. It’s elevating a brand of hardline politics that for many Californians had begun to fade from view.

Swinford pushed back his chair and walked out onto the sidewalk.

“We need a revolt,” he said.

Do not mistake the position of the CA Republican Party for the positions of the CA Republican Electorate.

They match in few areas.

Very few, as they are RINOs on steroids.

I think CA is like OR and WA. All of the fruits, nuts, and flakes are all within a hundred miles of the coast. Once you cross over the Cascades headed east, it’s a whole different story.

If Cruz or Kasich cannot break 30% in any district, Trump comes away with 172 sworn delegates.

And, they are bound to him on all ballots unless released.

But Newt thinks he won't need them as he believes Trump will be over 1237 before June 7th.

What happens next?
1) States encourage illegal immigrants to take up residence.
2) States raise the minimum wage.
3) Employers refuse to hire employees who add less value than the new minimum wage.
4) Low skill workers lose jobs or can not find their first job in those states.
5) Low skill workers (including many illegal immigrants or their teenage citizen children) ...
A) Move to other states with more business friendly laws,
B) Stay in the non-competitive states relying on public assistance, or
C) Return to their country of origin

Thanks for posting this article. You’ve done an essential service for all of us, especially California Republicans, to whom I direct the rest of this comment.

As of now you have little or no hope of voting in any California election, other than this primary, and having any impact at all on local or national politics, especially because your legitimate votes, as real citizens, will be drowned in a flood of illegal aliens’ votes for the worst of the DemonCraps. By voting for Trump, you’ll strike the strongest possible blow in favor of American and California elections belonging to Americans. Indeed, President Trump would give you the best hope of recovering California for Americans because he’d undo Sanctuary Cities, along with the massive voting by illegal aliens that comes along with those cities. Hence, a vote for Trump in this primary is the best chance you’ll have in a generation to make California American again.

The first thing the feds need to do is enforce all of the immigration laws already on the books, no exceptions.

The next thing to do is smack down sanctuary cities and states that refuse to abide by the law. That includes cutting off states from federal funds that give quarter to illegal aliens.

Then, start arresting employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens. Start enforcing I-9 reporting requirements.

Also, go after people who have overstayed travel, education, and limited work visas.

The most important thing is to secure regain our control of the southern border. Allow ICE, INS, the BP, etc. to actually do their jobs.

Oh, and one more thing. Make it a federal offense for ANY local, state, or federal official to interfere with border enforcement or offer sanctuary to illegal aliens. Also, make it a felony offense for any individual or corporation to employ an illegal alien.

Illegal aliens are NOT US citizens, therefore they are not entitled to the same rights of US citizens.

At nest, the only rights that they have are under the Geneva convention regarding prisoners of war.

For all intents and purpose, mexico is considered a hostile nation to the US. Their nationals should be treated as such.

I don’t want a wall.

I want a full blown DMZ with barbwire, anti-personnel devices, denial of access barriers, and active military patrols with orders to repel or kill.

Mexico is not our friend, regardless of what the bleeding heart liberals and free traitor republicans may tell you.

Mexico is a corrupt third world oligarchy ruled by drug cartels and blueblood european spaniard transplants.

“enforce all of the immigration laws already on the books”
Politically possible.

“smack down sanctuary cities and states”
Unlikely. Republicans might (or might not) support it: Democrats would block it.

“start arresting employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens”
Unlikely. Many Republicans would probably not support it: Democrats would block it.

“go after people who have overstayed travel, education, and limited work visas”
Possible, but would require higher expenditures to be effective.

Anyway, you see where I’m going with this.
