How Powerful is Persuasion? (Trump in a landslide)
Dilbert.com ^ | 4/21/2016 | Scott Adams

Posted on 04/21/2016 5:28:12 PM PDT by GilGil

The effect you see in the study is a big reason I predict Trump will win the general election in a landslide. Trump understands persuasion at this level, as he often demonstrates. His opponents do not. He’s bringing a flamethrower to a stick fight.

Six months from now, after Trump loses in a landslide, this is what we will be reading at Free Republic:

(1) Voter Fraud!

(2) Media Bias!

(3) Conservatives Stayed Home!

Are you in California? I’m a Cruz supporter who said from the beginning that Trump would clean up in New England and NY/NJ with Dems and Ind. I have never been to California and don’t have a great feel for the state as a whole.

here’s the study the author cites on the blog

US election 2016: Thought of earning less than their wives makes men change vote from Hillary Clinton to Donald Trump

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-elections/us-election-2016-idea-of-earning-less-than-wives-makes-men-change-vote-from-hillary-clinton-to-a6992396.html
Just the thought of earning less than their wives is enough to make some men in the US switch their vote from Hillary Clinton to Donald Trump, a study suggests.

I always thought Scott Adams was a smart guy just from the insight that went into Dilbert. But after reading his thoughts on persuasion, he really is a genius on a level most people never even think about.

I live in the “bluest” area you could imagine.

For the first time in my (seven decade) life I am seeing and hearing the Blue Collar
Guys who have always been conservative in their values but held under the sway of
unions, openly supporting a Republican candidate.

These guys have always belonged on the right.
They love guns, hunting, hot rods and their families.
Most have some form of Christianity in their lives.

The Dem and Union bosses see what’s going on and they’re
in a panic. The Trump Tent may well pan out bigger than
the Reagan Tent.

As a recently retired professional, I do not have a prediction for November. I doubt that any professional has a prediction worthy of trust.

The polling results suggest that Trump will get stomped. The polling results are based on historical data interpreted through current polls.

If the historical data do not apply to this election, then we have no idea what today’s polls mean - particularly turnout. If Trump supporters show up in November, this will be a record year.

If the Trump excitement fades over the next six months, then the historical data are meaningful, and we will have to pray for survival under the Hillary regime. Hillary is far more energetic and power hungry than Obama, and she could be more dangerous even if she is slightly less evil.

Which will it be: a blowout in one direction or in the other? The big decider will be the Trump supporters with enthusiasm.
- Will the FR Trump supporters man the phones (will Trump even have phones?).
- Will the FR Trump supporters drive people to the polls (will Trump even have get-out-the-vote?).
- Will the FR Trump supporters help register patriotic voters (will Trump even have a registration drive?).
- Will the FR Trump supporters send letters to the editor, post comments on every online news site, and talk to friends and neighbors?
- Or will they decide they have defeated the real enemy, now that Cruz is eliminated, and go back to their regular business?

Not to butt in, but I’m in California, (where it is impossible to avoid liberals and Democrats in daily converstation).

Trump is going to have to pull off a miracle to overcome his negatives, primarily with women. Even the ladies of the Republican Federation seem to be having trouble with Mr. Trump (some of whom cut their teeth in the Goldwater campaign.)

I work in construction, and Trump has definitely gained some support among nominally Democrat guys, but based on my own narrow sample, it’s not broad and a lot of his most vocal support comes from people who are not the most avid voters.

Cruz picked up solid support early on from the activist base (folks like the California Republican Assembly) and a lot of the local party activist types. Again the sentiment that I see seems to be that folks are not happy about Trump’s many calumnies directed at Cruz, but will get over it, not that any R will win Cali.

I’m not sure how many folks will make the trek to swing states to work GOTV though.

If Trump’s the nominee, I’ll be supporting him, but he’s got an awful lot of wood to chop.

Trump is an alpha male, or basically, he’s a man the way men used to be. Fits nicely with the MAGA theme.

’ Will the FR Trump supporters man the phones (will Trump even have phones?).’

Mr. Trump has a very sophisticated national telephone program that is set up and running. I know as I am part of it.
It is surprising that you are not aware of it.

If tRump is what is considered an “Alpha” male it’s no wonder this country is in trouble. The Donald reminds me more of a nasty old man whose wife, kid and relatives only hang around because they’re waiting for him to die and leave them all his money.

Ronald Reagan was an Alpha male. The Donald is no Ronald Reagan.
