So, outlaw the sale of oral contraceptives, then. I don't agree with exceptions other than life of the mother but I don't see how they're as bad as the widespread use of contraceptives which, with very few exceptions, are abortaficants.

"As bad?" Since we can find something worse (and I'd argue with your example, anyway--yes, oral contraceptives should be outlawed!), that somehow means that we're allowed to commit evil? On that basis, we're allowed to do almost anything!

These appeals to "it's not worse than [x]" or "others do plenty of bad things already" (both of those excuses being basic fallacies) would INCREASE the evil in the world, not decrease it. The fact that we can't yet do anything (in the legal arena) about hormonal contraception (and its concomitant abortion effects) doesn't give us the green light to let ANOTHER evil have our approval.

I suppose reality plays no role in your thinking, then.

What's the platform say now ?

Would the proposed changes make it more or less likely that abortion other than in the cases covered by exemptions would be ended?

The majority of abortion could be ended with the exceptions in place, IMHo, based on how public opinion has changed. Without that much political cover the cowards that end up being our "representatives" will never even try.

Pretend what you like but defeating an enemy in detail isn't evil.
