Donald Trump on Thursday hammered a controversial North Carolina law that requires transgender people to use bathrooms that correspond with the gender listed on their birth certificate.
Trump told NBC that North Carolina is "paying a big price" for the controversial legislation, and said the state has created problems that did not previously exist.

Trump is a militant RINO and his base is very deluded...
It would be very easy for him to dismiss the issue as a matter for the states to deal with. He must feel very strongly about it.
He’s not now nor has ever been a conservative....the sorry thing is, many on this forum don’t care.
As A Trump supporter, I can’t defend this, and can only hope he misspoke.
GREAT post and so correct.
>> Trump as POTUS would govern like a RINO, maybe worse
No maybe about it.
>> Theres a reason New Yorkers voted for him overwhelmingly.
Yes, the real takeaway of the NY primary isnt so much Trumps lopsided victory as it is the fact that Rats went to the polls in liberal New York in twice the numbers of Republicans.
In conservative Texas, which conservative Ted Cruz overwhelmingly carried, the story was just the opposite: Republican primary voters outnumbered Rats two to one.
Way to destroy your momentum, Donnie.
Northeast Republicans. When will we ever learn. Trump is even weaker than your typical Northeast Republican. He has no core conservative beliefs. Walk it back? Yeah, they’ll try like they did on abortion, but we all know where he stands. Mr Ant-PC has shown how really PC he is.
Man are you off. We might not like this, but most either don’t care or have more important things to worry about.
Thank you. Made it its own thread.
Ivanka has a better chance of being a captive in a seraglio than of being obliged to use a public pit stop.
Nice try, and you might be able to sell that revisionist history crap to Freepers who don’t live in California
Arnold Schwarzenegger was THE CHOICE of the California GOP Establishment, headed by New Majority in particular, and not the grassroots.
The same oily hacks like Hewitt and Medved who led the charge against Tom McClintock have been trying to do the same to Trump, only this time it doesn’t work.
But keep doing the GOPe’s dirty work, they need the help.
Where, exactly, do we disagree on history?
**North Carolina law that requires transgender people to use bathrooms that correspond with the gender listed on their birth certificate. **
God’s law, too.
The City of Charlotte changed the law 1st to allow your daily gender identity to define what bath room a person should or can use. The legislator here passed the law then to make boys and girls BORN that way use the appropriate bathroom. Then all hell broke out!
My support for Donald Trump is based on three things: 1. His clear repudiation of "political correctness," which has stifled public discussion of the real issues for the past two decades. 2. His avowed stands on the most important specific Federal issues. 3. His Conservative instincts, which strongly suggest a continued move to the Right (Trump: Metaphor For American Conservatism.)
He is, also, the most electable Republican candidate for a wide variety of reasons. So let us go forward, even as we acknowledge this mistake, in passing, as we put it into a fuller perspective.
It’s not a good situation, but there’s no real answer to it except having a family bathroom like at most airports.
First of all, as a conservative male heterosexual, I’ve used women’s bathrooms in the past 70 years; for instance when the men’s room was out of order and I had to go bad enough...
Secondly, If a transgender male is indistinguishable from a female, it would be disruptive (maybe more so) for him to use the men’s room. It would be least disruptive to use the ladies room I would think.
Thirdly, When I traveled (without my spouse) with my kids when they were young (and that was 35 or 40 years ago). I never let either my son or my daughter go into a public bathroom alone. My daughter would have to use the men’s room or I would have to take her in the ladies room. So this is not a new issue that families have to deal with... It just requires common sense, not laws.
So in that respect, Trump is right. Leave things the way they were. It has always been an issue and has never been a problem. we don’t need new laws.
Now that Trump thinks that he has dispatched the only conservative in the race, Trump will move from his right-of-center or center position and head left.
“Donald Trump on Thursday hammered a controversial North Carolina law that requires transgender people to use bathrooms that correspond with the gender listed on their birth certificate.
Trump told NBC that North Carolina is “paying a big price” for the controversial legislation, and said the state has created problems that did not previously exist.”
That all right, President Trump will pass a Federal Law that makes it mandatory that all state allow transgender people to use bathrooms of their choice, New York values.
In looking at this a little more, I am puzzled.
Ok, so how do you police this? Are you going to follow people into the bathroom and demand they produce a birth certificate? Did “as it was before” refer to the law as it previously stood? Which was what?
How do you know if someone is “transgender” unless you follow them around?
I think there has to be some sort of Perv-Stoppage so that chicks with you know whats don’t go into women’s bathrooms in the open-—but behind the stall? Who knows? How WOULD you know?
As usual, it’s a mess.
