I dont know if anyone has mentioned this before on this thread, but Trump really got into a lot of trouble over the transgender issue a few years ago, and I would imagine hes trying not to have that happen to him again. He attempted to bar a beauty pageant winner, who had been born a male but went through all the surgeries to appear female, from participating in his Miss Universe contest. Feminist lawyer, Gloria Allred, sued him over it, and Trump eventually went ahead and allowed the woman to participate in the face of a lot of negative publicity and some insults from Allred (OK, he was attacking her too).
I hope Trump re-evaluates this after learning more about the issue. His earlier Miss Universe experience indicates that he doesnt really believe that a trans woman is an actual woman, so I hope he finds out more about the potential problems behind this issue. He seems to be looking at this in terms of dollars and cents (i.e. whats best for business), rather than what problems it might cause for the actual men and women and girls and boys using those restrooms. On the other hand, his stance is in fact the smaller, less intrusive government position, and I would agree with the idea that this law would be a very hard law to enforcesome women are a bit masculine looking, but we cant be doing genital tests for anyone somewhat questionable trying to enter the ladys room. However, state laws arent the presidents concern anyway. He should have stayed out of it.
I’m waiting for his retraction
