“your candidate is a full blown fraud.”. You know, using your logic.
Here is what he told the person asking the question: I would say defending the Constitution is a top priority. And that cuts across the whole spectrum whether it's defending [the] First Amendment, defending religious liberty. People of New York may well resolve the marriage question differently than the people of Florida or Texas or Ohio. ... That's why we have 50 states to allow a diversity of views. And so that is a core commitment.
This is completely consistent with his previous comments on the topic. For example, here is what he said in 2013 on the Tonight Show: I support marriage between one man and one woman. ... But I also think its a question for the states. Some states have made decisions one way on gay marriage. Some states have made decisions the other way. And thats the great thing about our Constitution, is different states can make different decisions depending on the values of their citizens.
I know it is hard to comprehend when you support a candidate that has no core principles and is liable to say anything at anytime, but there actually are candidates that are consistent in their support for the Constitution, even when it may not give them the result they want immediately.
Cruz is consistently conservative. Gay issues are states rights but he will protect our liberties. I read his commentary at that meeting and he was very clear on his position.
