He is hardly pretending. He is stating the case that the courts should NOT be deciding issues like that.

Remember, Cruz is a constitutionalist, since its not defined within the constitution, it technically IS a states rights issue.

That does not make him pro-choice or not pro-life, it means he is consistent in what he is saying.

Trump of course, is NOT a constitutionalist, and is a populist. He blows whichever way the wind blows.

In the case of transgender folks using the same restroom as people of the opposite sex, he blows the direction of the liberal mind, because he is a liberal.

Face it - abortion has been legal longer than I have been alive - Cruz and his ilk use abortion to raise money and get votes from pro lifer people but then ignores them and says it is out of his hands - he would if he could. In the meantime he tells pro choice people - see I won't ban abortion - I just say I don't like it - vote for me since you like my tax policy. It's a con game.

Trump states he would punish women and doctors who get abortions done - the logical answer and he was attacked for it by Cruz and his ilk.

The idea that women should not be punished for abortion was some focus tested idea where it was found women who were pro choice would accept a pro life candidate if the pro lifer pretended he was against abortion while winking to pro choicers they would od nothing about it.
