He should sue for wrongful dismissal but would he win? Freedom of speech? Only if it says what is right.
**********
Your Freedom of Speech can only be abridged by the government. Employers in most Conservative states have the right to fire you for wearing the wrong color shirt to work (as it should be) let alone what you might say that’s contrary to company policy. Unfortunately with social media anything you do or say is carried over from your personal life to your professional life. Something you might have said 20 years ago to your neighbor is now flashed across the world on Facebook, Twitter, or whatever other garbage site people glom on to. Rather than boycott ESPN (which I don’t watch anyway) everyone should be boycotting Facebook. Let’s get back to talking to our friends versus hundreds of strangers that are called “friends.”
Very true, the answer is to drop facebook, twitter, google, and all the other social media sites.
At the very least, train yourself not to expose personal views when you are seen to represent your Employer. A Tv personality has to follow the Company line. The Companies are under EXTEME pressure from our Community Organizer, 0bama.
Shilling should have posted the picture under a private alias, its a great picture!!!
But if you deny a wedding cake to a person for a leftist politically charged reason....your 1st amendment rights Do not count.
It has to be one or another.
For some reason, most people don’t get that.
As for Schilling, I’d have more sympathy if he wasn’t a taxpayer-teat sucking con artist to the tune of $75 million.
So why are bakers and florists getting sued to accommodate homo weddings?
