I admit, I have a very stunted 'racial dog-whistle' antennae. I was shocked, some years ago (Jena High School), to find out that hanging a noose up had a racial connotation. Having grown up in the Southwest, I always took nooses as something associated with cattle rustlers, or other scurvy dogs. I even joked at work about hanging up nooses for people who did a bad job (or some other faux offense). I had no idea that nooses were reserved for racial messages.
Likewise I find watermelon and fried chicken (but no hot sauce please) to be special treats...
