With a resounding victory in New York under his belt, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is taking an early lead in another northeastern state: Connecticut, where a new poll has him beating his closest rival by 20 points.
A Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday shows Trump leading among likely Republican primary voters with 48 percent, compared to Ohio Gov. John Kasich at 28 percent and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at 19 percent. Just five percent of voters say they are still undecided ahead of the April 26 primary.
Trump is the clear favorite across nearly all demographic groups, except among Republican voters 18 to 44 years old, who favor Kasich at 39 percent. Trump has 32 percent of support among that age group, while Cruz comes in with 27 percent. The New York billionaire, however, leads among older voters.

Cruz is a Dead Ender and he knows it.
At one time I would have supported him as VP.
No more.
“Americans do not like Voterless outcomes.”
Rush Limbaugh would say that Americans just don’t understand how the system operates.
How dare you!!!!
Ted Cruz won 38 of the last 22 LANDSLIDE VICTORIES!!!!
How far "up North?" Ohio or Alberta?
Cruz is destroying any chance of ever becoming president.
If he and Trump were close, pursuing a contested convention would be perfectly acceptable to many fair minded people. Trying to wrest the nomination away from Trump when clearly he will be 400+ delegates behind is unforgivable.
I would tactfully suggest that folks consider that a lot of folks really like Cruz. If The trump momentum is real, they will eventually see that if not attacked. If we are going to form a unity ticket, the intense criticism of Cruz will not likely help achieve unity, it is far better fro Cruz supporters to come to that conclusion on their own.
Now If what the Trump fans say is correct, it will be become very clear on the 26th that Cruz is lagging and even more so by May the 3rd with Indiana. At the moment I cannot find a good set of polls for Indiana, so one does not know, but if Trump wins that with over 50 % it will go a long way to showing how fragile Cruz’s position is going forward. Eventually it will become clear to everyone he has very little chance.
That said we must start thinking about the main election. To do that we need all voters on board. The more folks go after Cruz at this point the more his die hard supporters will find it hard to swallow defeat. A lot of Cruz supporters have been fighting he good fight for conservatism for a long time now. I do believe that their time and candidate , if he handles his position gracefully at this point forward, will have a part to paly in future elections.
If we give it time on the 26th of April and May 3rd, I suggest a lot of Cruz fans will see and accept the inevitable. If Trump folks gloat and rub their noses in defeat, a lot of them will find it very hard to unify for this fall. Be gracious victors
Something to consider.
Let me correct you.... that is 5 times as many votes as the frontrunner Mitt Romney got in NY just four years ago. In fact, Trump got almost as much votes as all the other combined running into 2012.
So yes, it is RESOUNDING!
OMG I’m laughing so hard at your comment in a supportive way.
Everyone, and I mean almost everyone not in the Trump camp has been predicting doom for Trump since day 1. You know who you are and you have been wrong for close to a year now.
Now, we here if Trump is the nominee Hillary wins. BS....you will all be wrong again!
