Have you thought of sending a copy of this letter to some of the talk show hosts with the option of reading it to their listeners? No I am not kidding.This says what many of us have come to believe.I’m sure it could turn the hearts of many toward peace and resolve at this point.
You have stood by Ted Cruz, as have many Freepers.
Never calling names, acting as a Christian should in these tense situations.

I have been deeply grieved at the hate, anger and downright ugly comments and graphics that have been allowed to be displayed here against this fine citizen. It has been heart breaking and destructive to say the least and I’m not sure that Free Republic will ever be the same, or other fine political organizations as well.
You are right. A ugly convention will toss the ball to Hillary.
We are not sure what Donald Trump will do if elected.
But we KNOW what Hillary will do and that is put the nail in the coffin of our beloved USA.
We must do all we can do and your letter is well spoken and needs circulated.

Wonderful letter Jeff. Thank you for sharing it. The real enemy has always been Hillary and the Democrats.
If he has the right people around him, helping him, showing him how...I believe he will.
I personally believe that if it is a Trump v Hillary race, Trump will begin parroting Bernie Sanders' positions in order to cut into Democratic support... that's really his only Hail Mary chance to win, considering how many conservatives and Republicans will refuse to support him.
But getting Sanders voters out for Trump means Republicans lose the Senate and possibly the House too. And Trump is still highly likely to lose too, giving the Dems everything.
In addition, if the Dems ever see a poll with Trump actually beating Hillary, all they have to do is OK the FBI indictment and replace Hillary with someone less hated like Elizabeth Warren.
Trump has ALREADY mostly destroyed the chances of a Republican win in November. Both he and Cruz have too high negatives to win....all thanks to Trump. It's too late for a Cruz concession to repair that. At this point, even though I was a Cruz supporter, I think the only prayer for Republicans is to nominate Rubio on a late ballot. Neither Trump supporters nor Cruz supporters completely hate the guy, and he's less establishment/moderate than Kasich. And even then winning the presidency would still be a longshot. But at least the downticket wouldn't suffer as much as with Trump.
But my delegate model currently shows Trump entering the convention with 1232 delegates, just 5 short. And with over 100 unbound delegates, it's a lock that he would then win on the first ballot. This could change, but it isn't likely, especially with Cruz supports like yourself, if not Cruz, throwing in the towel already.
I think most people can agree with me that this rancorous phase of the election cycle should now come to an end.
Not only can Ted Cruz not get a majority of delegates, but it's also painfully obvious that he also doesn't have what's needed to win a floor fight at the convention.
For Ted Cruz, the only logical thing to do is to suspend his campaign and help unite the party behind the presumptive nominee. In addition to being logical it would also be the right thing to do.
If Ted Cruz were to set aside his ego and ambitions and do that, he would instantly rehabilitate his image and be remembered for his statesmanship, and would have a very bright future in the GOP.
I sincerely hope your words reach the Senator and have the desired impact.
I, for one, am weary of this phase, and given the inevitability of Donald Trump's nomination, the course you recommend is certainly the only one which promises to unite the party.
Any other course threatens to splinter the GOP and hand the election to Hillary Clinton.

It’ll be a miracle if Ted Cruz listens to you. At best, he’ll simply drop out. I wouldn’t join hands with Trump, either.
Every problem Trump is having was created by Trump.
A third grader running for class president would know better than to make some of the blunders Trump has made, that have resulted in 65% negative against him.
You call for Cruz to contact Trump- when it is Trump who needs to contact Cruz, and make a deal, if he wants him to drop out and support him.
But that's easier said than done considering the bridge burning Trump has engaged in against Cruz.
Trump will need Cruz and his voters to even have a shot at winning the general election, should he get the nomination.
Every day I listen carefully to hear something to make me believe that Trump is moving toward conservative principles. So far today, he has again tacked in the opposite direction.
With all due respect, I must tell you that I believe that your reasoning about this matter here is not quite sound:
- First of all, “ugly fights” do not have to necessarily occur during a contested convention. If each candidate (Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, or anyone else) behaves properly and encourages his supporters (and everybody else) to behave the same appropriate way, there is no reason to fear that we may expect serious disturbance during the July Republican Convention in Cleveland, Ohio (also security forces will be present there to prevent trouble-makers to disruptively interfere).
- Secondly, it is not because Ted Cruz would withdraw from the presidential race before the July Republican Convention (to prevent disorders or disputes during the Convention, or because some other reasons), that another Republican Nominee (Donald Trump?) might necessarily be more appealing to the voters nationwide and will be able to actually win the Presidential Elections in November. At that time, many people (faithful supporters of Ted Cruz, dedicated conservative individuals, Tea Party sympathizers, Evangelical Christians, independent voters, etc.), may simply stay at home on Election Day, if the Republican Official Candidate is not really able to motivate them much. In such a case, Hillary Clinton (or Bernie Sanders) will rather easily become our next president (this is not a “far-fetched” scenario!).
- Finally, it seems to me that you don’t quite fully understand the strength of the Christian and Personal Character of Senator Ted Cruz. In Matthew 10:22, Jesus said: “You will be hated by all men because of my name’s sake, but he who endures to the end, shall be saved.” Christians like Ted Cruz understand three teachings from this verse:
- Christian Believers will definitely meet many people who do not like them (you will be hated by all men). There is no doubt that Ted Cruz knows that a number of people will unquestionably be against him.
- It is this way because of Christ’s name that Jesus’s disciples meet such an opposition. As long as Ted Cruz wants to do what is right and good in God’s eyes for America (and for the world), he knows that, because of his Christian and Conservative Principles and Convictions, he is going to meet a significant resistance, while pushing forward.
- Christians are not taken by surprise when they meet difficulties. They know that they have to resist evil and fight when facing adversities. Therefore, Ted Cruz does not give up (or give in) so easily, because, according to the last part of the quoted verse (Mat. 10:22), he knows that to succeed, he must persevere until the end.
During presidential races, those who run must show that they are not easily discouraged by some various types of antagonism, nasty allegations, disparaging criticism, bad advice, setbacks, or other problems. In such circumstances, how the presidential candidates react can demonstrate the quality of their individual competences. A clear aspect of Ted Cruz’s personal character is that he is quite determined (some may say “driven”) to reach his goal, without never wavering.
In conclusion, I would say that to expect that Ted Cruz may somehow be dissuaded to continue his presidential race, just because of some hostility that he may find on his path (at the Republican Convention, or elsewhere), would be anticipating something that is obviously not going to happen. Ted Cruz knows better indeed! (… and his faithful supporters also know better!)
The problem is that Donald Trump is a progressive conman and friend of Clinton. He can’t beat her and isn’t trying.
