Funny how ‘wife’ (or kiddies) can stand up there with ‘he/her’ and smile and nod and applaud everything ‘he/she’ says - then give their own little speech and yet if the opponent says anything about it ‘they’ claim the family is off limits.
People should have learned from J Carter that if you don’t want people criticizing your ‘crazy’ mother/sister, or drunk brother, don’t let them on the bus with you and your campaign.
Though the ‘Carter family antics’ keep a lot of what JEC did in the background.
Even B Clinton (supposedly) said after (supposedly) giving brother Roger a pardon for his nefarious dealings -
“What is the sense of being Prez if you can’t help family”?
Whether true or not, very easy to believe Clinton saying/acting that way....
Family ~~like Billy Carter.
During the Reagan years, we ran into Billy Carter in the elevator while heading up to the republican mayor’s fundraiser. The cocktail reception was jam packed with about 200 people.
We invited Billy over and he eagerly accepted. Boy was he a hoot! Billy stole the show and the laughter continued long after he left. He earned a standing O with wild applause.
