Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney is again warning his party of the dangers of a Donald Trump nomination, saying a three-man race likely paves the way for the New York billionaire to capture the nomination on the first ballot of this summers GOP convention in Cleveland.
The former Massachusetts governor, in an interview on The David Gregory Show podcast saysTuesdays New York primary is an important moment in the primary fight.
If (Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Ted Cruz) are both going at it aggressively until the very end then I think Trump gets it on the first ballot, Romney said.
Responding to Trumps criticism about the GOP delegate rules, Romney was dismissive, saying the rules were well known more than a year ago. And, taking another swipe at Trump, he told Gregory its a good thing the rules are difficult.
After all these rules are a lot simpler than the rules of foreign affairs or the rules of our economy. And if you want to be president, you are going to have to deal with things far more complicated than republican delegate rules, he said.

That’s what a successful person does, he hires the best talent to get the job done.
yea, things that President Mutt Romney will never experience
Go to hell Mitt!
>>the undercurrent of what he is saying
What he actually says is: where he doesn’t win, he was cheated; where he doesn’t win the vote, it was a voterless election; if he doesn’t win the nomination, there will be a riot.
Some of his followers seem to parse some subtlety in his statements (I don’t blame them for dressing them up), but what he says is not deep nor subtle. Childish and boorish yes, but without depth.
There goes the 191 electoral vote man.
Gee, Mitt, what complicated things are you dealing with. Should I drive the Porsche or the Ferrari, today?
Loser.
Yes, Romney is the loser who lost what was handed to him on a silver platter. But he does make a decent point here, I hope Trump has learned his lesson.
Exactly!
If Americas CEO’s did what Americas politicians do, they would go to prison for 20 years.
And I don’t blame Cruz supporters for failing to see that Cruz has not generated the broad-based enthusiasm for his candidacy that Trump has, nor can he. I don’t blame Cruz supporters for overlooking the fact that Cruz is being used as a cudgel to stop Trump, period. I don’t blame Cruz supporters for failure to understand that the GOPe has no intention of letting Cruz have the nomination, either.
I am writing this as a voter who regards Cruz as the very finest candidate for President of my lifetime (his narrow views on theology and constitutional law are precisely the same as mine); but I am smart enough to realize that the narrowness of Cruz’s theology, and his politics, simply make him inherently unelectable, even against hilldebeeste, the worst candidate I have ever seen.
The irony is simply a commentary on the times in which we live, sorry to say.
I see Trump as the only man who can go to DC and the power elites and blow them up. That is something I’d very much like to see.
Shut up, Mitt! You could have fought this hard against Obama! You were a pussy! So now just shut up and go away!
Yo Milt. You already lost twice. STFU.
I thought you lost , Mitt? And, you’re trying to give advice? Who are you supporting this week? Cruz or Kasich? Go away, loser!
That's sort of like Mitt Romney trying to coach Trump on how to win the presidency.
Losers need to step out of the way and let winners win.
Mitt ignores a simple truth... Trump is winning.
I get anger and wanting to blow things up
But it makes for poor decisions and regretful pyrotechnics often.
And I disagree that Trump has a broad base.
We used to say of politicians whose supporters were tepid: “His support is a mile wide and and inch deep.”
I think it is true of Trump, and obviously so, that his support is a foot wide and a mile deep.
He’ll blow up what is left, after his candidacy, of the political wing of the conservative movement.
How did Mitt do in 2012?
Losers lose...
And then give others advise is if they were successful.
I can’t stand Mitt... he reeks of ‘jerk’...
So do you think Cruz has the breadth of support base that Trump (you say) lacks?
