I have been on this forum for over a decade.

The idea that we cannot criticized someone for their lack of conservative convictions is fairly alien to my experiences here.

why cannot we not point out how

1. Trump became a Republican unexpectedly about six months ago.
2. He says health care is a government responsibility.
3. He has said [I know he writes differently on his website] he will raise taxes.
4. He says education is one of three primary duties of government
5. He says Planned Parenthood is a fine organization
6. He slanders conservative candidates like Cruz and Carson

Trump should be ok like armies of Republican candidates who have been criticized at Free Republic for not being sufficiently conservative.

I get a weird vibe I have never had in any other primary process at FR that we must ALL agree to support Trump.

There is no way I am supporting his nomination.

I will have to think hard about voting for him in November if he gets the nomination.

I will not ever vote for Hillary. But again, I remember multiple elections where Freepers said they would not vote for the nominee.

I think raising the conservative values of Free Republic as a standard will cause Trump to be as conservative as possible regardless of the outcome.

I am not at all persuaded that Cruz is a bad person or that he is not a great conservative.

I hear what you're saying. I give credit to Ben Carson, a fine man, a good man, for believing unity is better than division and "endorsing" Trump. I like and respect Mr. Carson. I, in the beginning thought he'd be a fine nominee, and would be thrilled to be able to call him a friend. I supported Cruz, up until I started to see little things that disturbed me. After researching, I held fast, hoping they were just blips on the screen. The Chicago fiasco was my last straw. I expected him to unequivocally condemn the riots and attacks. He did not and used it for politically expedient purposes.

Having been here over 15 years, I've seen "movements" come and go. Factions and splits are par for the course. Some came here thinking they were conservative, only to realize they weren't. Some left willingly and some were shown the door. There have been Bush worshipers, Rove worshipers, McCain worshipers and more. Worship of any man or woman is ridiculous. None are to be worshiped but the Creator. Never before have I had my candidate lose and decide to stay home. I have held my nose and voted for the nominee. To give the election to a dhimmi, by default, is unacceptable to me.

You can criticize the lack of stellar conservative convictions of any candidate you wish. It is, after all, opinion. Trump is no saint, nor perfect, nor infallible or the incarnation of Goldwater or Reagan. IMO, in this current climate and crowd and time in history, he's the best suited and able to win. His feet will be held to the fire, in multiple ways. If he screws the pooch, he'll rue the day he ever thought of seeking the nom.

“4. He says education is one of three primary duties of government”

False.

I heard that interview. You want to interpret it that way when he clearly stated he was referring to the more general idea of the things we need to do as a country.

Moreover, his specific plans include returning control to the local level and getting rid of most of the Department of Education.

So from a general and specific perspective, what he proposes is reducing the role of the federal government in Education.

That line alone shows me that you’re not interested in having an honest discussion. You’re distorting to spread propaganda.

"He slanders conservative candidates like Cruz and Carson"

I'll bite. Show me the slander. Better yet, show me the lawsuit.

Then why did he cheat on his cousin?

or that he is not a great conservative.

You just keep posting LIES! Why do you do that? You outright lie or misrepresent Trumps positions and statements. Do you not know any better or is it TDS? It is getting old and no one believes you anyway so why don’t you just give it up?
