Entering the Orbit of a Total Narcissist: Who's Who in Donald Trump's Inner Circle
The Guardian ^ | April 15 2016 | on Swaine, Oliver Laughland and Ben Jacobs

Posted on 04/16/2016 9:29:51 AM PDT by Savage Rider

From his career in New York real estate to his extraordinary campaign for the White House, the court of Donald Trump has operated much like that of Louis XIV of France: everything revolves around the imperious, bouffanted Sun King.

“He is a total narcissist, and what you see here is the way he’s always been,” said a source intimately familiar with Trump’s way of working, who declined to be identified criticising a potential president. “This, between you and me, will be the destruction of the United States.”

Trump’s brand of narcissism requires that he successfully achieve what he says that he will do. The negative side of this is that he is incredibly full of himself. But the positive side is that it drives him to success.

Name me one public figure (other than a religious one) whoever accomplished ANYTHING of importance without a LOT of ego involved.

I will tolerate his narcissism if it gets us control over our border, a strong military and a pro-American foreign policy, lower taxes, less regulations, energy independence, etc.

I will also tolerate Cruz’ very evident ego, arrogance and narcissism if it accomplishes the same goals.

We are electing a President, not someone to serve as Messiah. You will find NO ONE to do this who is perfect, not by a long shot. But at least we can elect someone who knows how to get stuff done, someone who knows what government does to stand in the way if job creation and success and someone who unabashedly loves his country.

Anyone care to debate the points raised in the article? Or are the comments going to be more along the lines of “La-La-La I can’t hear you?”

Judging by most of the responses, it appears to be the latter.

Despite all that, the general public is noticing, also as reflect by every poll

That is not set in stone. It WILL change.

Maybe. Maybe not.

That all depends on what Trump does if/when he gets the nomination

Based on some of his public spokespeople, this should be written: “Trump being surrounded by uncouth, combative and ignorant yes-women is a problem.” <<<<<<<

You can’t have it that way! The same folks who complain about narcissism are the same people who complain about racism, and call Trump a Misogynist. /s

I knew most of this but reading it laid out like that makes me rethink my vote Trump pledge a little bit.

The other thing that makes me leery is Trump’s followers.

They have become fanatics defending every misstep Trump makes and joining him in whatever weird crusade he takes on, the latest being the Colorado controversy.

You may be willing but I am not so willing.

I think Trump’s brand of narcissism is dangerous for the country.

Look at the company he keeps. Look at his staff.

He is just weird.

An excellent post. Too bad the Trump-hating / Cruz-worshiping cultists on FR won’t consider the excellent points you have raised.

I suspect both Trump and Cruz are complete stiffs. Both seem to be very weird guys, and kind of off. Maybe we can’t expect anything else out of the people who actually want to be president in 2016. Both seem to have catered to the lowest common denominator in their campaigning. It’s really weird to see so much enthusiasm for either of these dudes.

Being an incredibly successful CEO of a tech company does not predict that you can run a clothing manufacturing, or food production company. Heck, it doesn’t mean you’ll be able to run a tech company in a different segment very well.

Actually, it does, since you already have the basic skills in place. Changing from one sector to another means having to learn some different specifics about the business itself, but it doesn't mean that the general way businesses operate is any different. You need to negotiate deals with your suppliers, you have to have some awareness of the various factors that affect the supply chains, you need people around who are experts in various technical aspects of your business, etc. The business skill is in knowing how to recognize and assemble the elements your particular business needs and to assess their effectiveness. The exact product line of the business is a cosmetic feature, not a fundamental difference in how the businesses operate.

I’ve read The Guardian so many times that a pattern is very clear. THEY ARE HARD CORE LEFT which means logic and reasoning is bizarre or missing.

But just for you I will paraphrase their nonsense which you erroneously refer to as “the points”:

* Louis XIV of France: imperious, bouffanted Sun King. NO POINT; IRRELEVANT; USAGE OF ADJECTIVE ‘BOUFFANT’ IS MISCAST; REVEALS GUARDIANS HOMOSEXUAL LEFTIST TENDENCY TO DENIGRATE ANY CAPITALIST PERSONA WHO POSSESSES POWER AND INFLUENCE, I.E. INSERT NAME OF ANY STRONG CAPITALIST, IN ADDITION TO TRUMP, AND THEIR INVECTIVE IS THE SAME.

* ***total*** narcissist, a source ***intimately*** familiar with Trump...declined to be identified, destruction of the United States. TOTAL? WHAT WOULD A 50% NARCISSIST BE LIKE? INTIMATELY? AS IN HIS WIFE OR HIS EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT?

* band of loyalists ... uncouth, combative and ignorant about the mechanics of American politics ... BAND OF LOYALISTS? WHAT WOULD THE GUARDIAN PREFER? A BAND OF TRAITORS? UNCOUTH? AND WHAT IS BILL CLINTON? COMBATIVE? AS OPPOSED TO WAVING A WHITE FLAG? IGNORANT ABOUT THE ‘MECHANICS’? THE GUARDIAN IS COMPILED IN THE UK AND THEY KNOW BETTER THAN PEOPLE THAT HAVE DEALT WITH THE US CONGRESS UP CLOSE? ARE COREY LEWANDOWSKI, BARRY BENNETT, PAUL MANAFORT, RICK WILEY NEW TO AMERICAN POLITICS? THE GUARDIAN HERE IS NOT MAKING ‘POINTS’, THEY ARE THROWING A FIT, A TYPICAL LEFTIST FIT.

* Trump inches closer ... hands on the levers controlling the world’s richest economy and a military of unparalleled might. THE REAL POINT HERE IS THE HOMOSEXUALS AT THE GUARDIAN ARE SHITTING THEIR PANTS. OH! HOW UNCOUTH!

* MICHAEL COHEN, COREY LEWANDOWSKI, HOPE HICKS, MICHAEL GLASSNER, BARRY BENNETT, PAUL MANAFORT .... WHY NO MENTION OF RICK WILEY? THE GUARDIAN PUBLISHED THIS TRASH YESTERDAY. IT’S NOT EVEN UP TO DATE. AND THE ADJECTIVES ‘UNCOUTH’, ‘IGNORANT’ ARE SO OFF THAT ‘TRASH’ IS AN IMMEDIATE ADJECTIVE DESCRIBING THE RUMP RANGERS AT THE GUARDIAN.

The rest of this nonsense is diatribe invective, rumor, innuendo and unfounded attacks. It’s tabloid trash.

Note that opening The Guardian includes a splattering of pro-Hillary ads such as “Proud to Stand With Hillary”. That is the first sign the reader is in enemy territory.

Now if you have more than a 2-digit IQ which is doubtful, perhaps you realize The Guardian is worse than trash, it is a bowel movement. Therefore, if you even understand the notion of refinement, you won’t be posting turds like this again.

Unfortunately, hiring the best people is difficult for Trump.

He has admitted he doesn’t want anyone working for him who is smarter than he is.

That narrows the gene pool quite a bit.

A confident man would be glad to have the best people around him and be secure enough to be able to live with people smarter than himself.

It’s Trump’s constant need for validation that causes him to do some of the things he does.

One of the guiding factors in his life has been to find and have the most sexy women. He has admitted it. When he looks over and sees a really hot babe in bed, he feels he has arrived.

He is an unstable man, a quality that is dangerous in a president.

I don’t think Trump would be more dangerous than Obama.

Obama had an agenda. A bad agenda, but he had one.

Trump does not ... although he has attracted admirers by his overblown statements about the wall, getting rid of Muslims, getting rid of illegals and putting the shaft to Mexico and China.

The problem is Trump doesn’t know how to go about doing any of these things and would be as disorganized as president as he is in campaigning.

He couldn’t even be bothered to check out the details of the Colorado primary and now he has incited a virtual revolution among his followers.

What to do with that revolution, they are not sure. They waver between wanting Trump to be able to decide how all the primaries are conducted, to abandoning all previous held states rights stands.

You just don't get it caww. Either that or you're playing the stupid role.

If Cruz destroys the Party at the Convention then loses to Hillary, he is finished politically - BUT if he quits, he has a bright future.— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016

Yes, Cruz is a narcissistic jerk - and exactly why he will likely quit before Cleveland. Narcissists don't often commit suicide.— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016

I'm going on record as predicting CRUZ QUITS BEFORE CLEVELAND in a magnanimous gesture to save the Party gaining future leverage & goodwill.— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016

Cruz has lost it fair and square and should step aside for the sake of the country.
If his continued efforts at thievery split and destroy the party, we’ll be saddled by Hillary or burned by Bernie.

Cruz lost the primary vote and is now aiding and abetting the enemy (the GOPe)
in their treasonous attempt to deny the nomination to the winner.
Cruz is a sore loser turned traitor against the grassroots voters.
And the foolish neophyte thinks the GOPe is going to let him have a shot at the presidency if he helps them block Trump?
Laughable if it wasn’t so serious.
