My theory is he’s an idiot savant who is brilliant with computers and programming but a complete moron on everything else. I think he truly believes the real world is exactly like his glorified party line Facebook, that all people have to do is “friend” ISIS and terrorism will be eliminated. This is also why he only wears gray tee shirts or a sweatshirt because anything else and he gets confused. Same with investing in other areas, you never read about him branching out into new tech like say Google does because his scope is very limited.
He may be an extreme example, but this is a general plague among Silicon Valley geeks. Great with their tech stuff, but clueless in other issues. They are great targets for leftwing activists. I have seen this happen a lot to many science/engineering types. They are blank sheets when it comes to social/political issues, and mindlessly absorb all liberal mantra out there in media and academia.
