New York: An 18-year-old woman in the US has been accused of filming the sexual assault of a minor girl and uploading it in the social media, prompting a grand jury to indict her and her boy friend on several charges including rape.

The woman, Marina Lonina from Ohio, is charged with streaming the rape of the 17-year-old girl via Twitter's live video app Periscope, US media reported.

The case came to light when authorities were contacted after an out-of-state friend of the woman saw the images, Prosecutor Ron O'Brien said.

Marina Lonina and co-defendant Raymond Gates, 29, have been both charged with rape, kidnapping, sexual battery and pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor, NBC News reported.

O'Brien said Lonina and the victim, who were friends, were socialising with Gates at a home when Gates raped the girl.

Lonina used the Periscope app to livestream the assault, said to have occurred on 27 February in the city of Colombus.

Periscope is an app for smartphones which uses a video function to allow users to stream events live.

Meanwhile, Lonina's lawyer said that she "categorically" denies the charges.

The duo can face up to 40 years in prison each, if convicted.

I agree that it’s probably always been part of less-than-polite society. However, the fact that it’s among the internet of things seems to make it a part of the “new normal” or so-called mainstream.

I agree. I guess my larger thought, too, was at one time when women were held to standards (both personal and societal) and more demure they played a role in helping temper men's sexuality who are more biologically prone to procreate far and wide.

Now everyday I am reading multiple stories about women completely unhinged. Killing their babies, having sex with their students, going out in public naked, mutilating themselves with plastic surgery, completely promiscuous, having affairs, drugs, selling their kids for drugs...you name it, I see it. I am seriously going to start keeping a file and maybe write a book because there is something here.

Sure it's not all women but it's a sizeable chunk. Both sexes are reliant on the other for stability. I will probably not be popular for saying this either but it's obviously why women have always been subjugated. It's clear they need a strong anchor. (men need to be the anchor too but that's another facet)

Also, I am not excusing the scum bag guy in this story. It's just far MORE shocking that another woman, watched it, allowed, maybe enjoyed it and then live streamed it on the internet--that's absolutely unbelievable. In these times, I am afraid, not some one off, isolated event.

Things weren’t too red hot before Obama but since Obama came along, it’s as though the big game had been won and the fans kinda went into auto-destruct mode. What is it about Obama’s being the first black POTUS or just his being a liberal Democrat? What is it about Obama and his party’s victories, however fraudulent, that tells them it’s time to lay waste upon polite society? Is it a desperation born of deep-seated feelings of powerlessness and/or an environment where the frustration is being felt by the people who thought there would be “change to believe in”?

You do all realize that Free Republic is part of social media?

IMHO, FR has been un-social media for months.

It's been a long journey and we are at the finishing line of decades worth of leftist destruction of the system and cultural Marxism.

I came across this article yesterday that perfectly illustrates my points.

Mom Lets Daughter Strip For Their Plastic Surgery

Nothing is sacred anymore. Not even their own daughters. The west is very sick.

Didn’t even have to click on the link...What you say though rings true. Popular or “Pop Culture” is being marketed as though it’s the only culture in the world. IF you ask me, I still don’t think the world has changed all that much except for the difference between what the average person knows about the history of their families and their country’s beginnings and what their predecessors know or knew. The bar for what “polite society” is supposed to be seems kinda low. On the other hand, while politeness and civility have their place(s), it’s looking like a sleeping giant is not just rolling over in its grave but coming alive.
