CHICAGO (WLS) -- A series of fast food worker protests are planned in Chicago and across the country Thursday.
Members of the "Fight for 15" movement organized the rallies. They're demanding a $15 minimum wage and union rights.
Thursday morning, protesters gathered outside a McDonald's on East 79th Street.
During the afternoon rush, groups plan to march on the Magnificent Mile. The demonstrations could flood into the street and block traffic.
Wednesday, SEIU Healthcare Illinois nursing home workers, childcare and home healthcare workers rallied and marched as part of the Fight of 15 movement, going to two nursing homes on the North Side and accusing Governor Bruce Rauner of "holding the budget hostage in an effort to drive wages and benefits down into the dirt."

Our local Walmart is just adding 10 more self check outs. Our local Olive Garden has terminals to order on the table. No 20% tip if you do your own ordering and pay on the terminal.
10 employees will now be 3 and an automated system, the rest will go on unemployment because we know thats what this is really about
If I found out that any of my employees had participated in one of these demonstrations, I would fire them immediately.
The Burger Spitters Union.
Give it to them.
Then laff at their shock when they get laid off!......................
Get a pizza in 3 mins for 5 bucks:
McD's is working on a burger flipping machine and just yesterday I saw a sample hands-free McCafe kiosk being tested in Chicago.
The Japs have developed a special robot that can care for and pick strawberries at their perfect time.
But think further down the line: If a machine can make a pizza crust like the one in the video, why not bread? It's just dough. WHy not lasagna? Its just dough?
All these things are just breads, sauces of one form or another and meat.
The only thing a machine can't do for you is spit on your meal outta spite.
These dunces are going to be hung by their own petard (or retard).
The retailer with the most automated checkouts in this area is Giant Eagle. They are a union shop. If the automated checkouts are there the union would have had to agree to them.
The damned fools are paying dues to a union that agreed to automate their jobs away!
“Take our jobs, NOW!”
Extremely stupid. They probably heard that $15/hour minimums were passed in other localities in the nation. However, if they could read (actually read news articles), then they would find that the $15/hour minimums are being phased in over five years or so. Even if they got a new law passed, it will not have any effect on them for several years. By then, inflation due to the new law will cause commodity prices to be higher and goods will cost more. And they'll be back to complaining rather than trying to better themselves and become more valuable to employers in order to justify getting higher salaries.
Stupid, stupid people. Should be a law against stupidity, but liberals in government encourage stupidity to spread in order to get elected.
Why $15? Why not $500? $5,000?
Between these loons, the BLM racist-looters and the Cleveland Convention rioters, it’s going to be a long, hot summer.

And in five years when they have priced their Burger flipping skills into oblivion, the Soros mobs will be demonstrating for $20 an hour equivalent welfare.
The local "Chili's" restaurant near me had table side tablet ordering more than two years ago now. All food and drink orders are done via tablet input at each table. A Server brings your food, refills your drinks.
When done, payment is via the tablet (card swipe.) Once they get a robot to bring food and drinks to the table, no more waiters/waitresses.
Also saw my first Kiosk at a downtown Chicago McDonalds yesterday. $15/hr. is going to replace damn' near every fast food worker out there.
Here’s The Burger-Flipping Robot That Could Put Fast-Food Workers Out Of A Job

Yes they will. People need basic necessities of life like food and shelter. If they are not able to earn them in the marketplace they are not going to lay down and voluntarily die. They are going to demand a government that gives them these things. That’s the bottom-line reality of it.
Very and may R2D2 take every one of their jobs.
I rarely eat at McDonald’s, but a quarter pounder and fries sounded good last week.
It was a little after lunch, so I was the only customer at the counter. I ordered my meal and asked for one slice of cheese (instead of the two they put on) and extra onions. Burger came out with two slices of cheese and no onions. If I had been able to order on a touch screen, my order would have been correct.
These people can’t take a simple order correctly, nor can they put a burger patty in the center of the sandwich buns, yet they think they’re worth $15?
