The “it may have offended someone” justification is pure, unalloyed hypocrisy. Any logical person could argue, he responded thusly because those advocating the homosexual agenda had offended him. His sensibilities had been offended by their advocacy of sexual deviance. But this doesn’t compute in the liberal mind.
