[Phylis took it upon herself to endorse Trump without the consent of the rest of the members.]
Phyllis has EVERY RIGHT to endorse a candidate. She did not make this an official Eagle Forum endorsement. National and state leaders of organizations do this all the time.
Brookhaven to heshtesh
She does if its done in the name of the Eagle Forum!
Phyllis Schlafly, for all practical purposes, IS the Eagle Forum. They are so tightly intertwined in the publics mind, that anything she says iseven as a private citizenis associated with the Eagle Forum.
But, what does that say about the importance (or unimportantce) of these other people to the Eagle Forum?
Her stated reason for endorsing Trump was logical and consistent with her past statements. She has long said there was a small group of kingmakers who chose the GOP nominee; that the will of the will of the rank and file Republicans did not matter. Thats why she endorsed Trump. She saw Trump as an opportunity to break that kingmaker-cabal.
Schlafly was ahead of the curve in recognizing the GOP establishment for what it wasdecades ahead of the curve.
You tell me?
[But, what does that say about the importance (or unimportantce) of these other people to the Eagle Forum?]
PHYLLIS SCHLAFLY has a constitutional right to individually endorse a candidate. It’s no different than a pastor or legislator publicly endorsing a candidate.
If others on a board want to endorse a candidate, they have a right to do so. What they were ticked off about is they have no clout. As you say, Phyllis Schlafly IS Eagle Forum, and people respect HER opinion.
