Ignorant Outrage Over the Colorado GOP Caucus Vote
BernardGoldberg.com ^ | April 11, 2016 | John Daly

You see, contrary to the impression that many people have been left with over the past couple of days, Colorado’s traditional caucus-night poll had never been a binding, primary-like election. That’s not how it worked. It was a simple straw-poll — nothing more, nothing less. It wasn’t the process used to distribute delegates to the candidates.

The nomination procedure in this state has been driven by the election of representatives for over a hundred years (except for from 1992 to 2002). It starts with grassroots caucus attendees from local precincts voting on congressional-district delegates (their neighbors) to represent them, and ends at the state convention a few weeks later when the representatives finish selecting national delegates to back a candidate at the national convention.

Silly girl.

Your hero didn’t do his homework. His popularity has dropped and he won’t get his 1237.

There will be a contested convention. That plays out according to rules.

You’d better hope your boy knows the rules this time.

The only way to beat both the GOPe and Clinton is for Trump & Cruz to unite. Including their supporters. Based on FR, that won’t happen and we get Prez Hillary along with her pervert husband.

You saw Ted gloating?

I saw an excellent acceptance speech.

Did you see Trump’s concession speech? What a classless display of petty petulance.

How many illegal things is Obama doing right now?

And Republicans are lecturing us, their voters about the rules - all while they let our President get away with it.

(*here’s my middle finger*)

I am not a party hack you jacka, and I took part in the CO caucuses.

That's a pretty good trick for somebody with a Tarheel flag on his Home Page.

...or maybe you're a party hack with a rocket sticking out your bum.

To make up Trumps gender gap he’d need to fly about 29 million women to Maralago. Honey, that’s a lot of bees.

Are you an ass in a hat? Francis the talking mule?

Your canned remarks have nothing to do with my comment nor the facts in it.

Between your wisdom and experience (which comes out lining your cabinets with Conservative Review) and Paul Manafort’s, I think I choose Manafort.

Try again.

This is too much information, it contradicts the lies going around.

And to hear all these Trump supporters falling into hysteria about how the GOPe is going to steal the election after the first ballot - it is their own candidate who is making it possible by not securing delegates.

Bingo.

the colorado caucus process is a sick, anti-democratic joke. About half a dozen people show up for each precinct caucus, and “elect” people to attend county assemblies and Congressional district assemblies; the county assemblies “elect” people to the state convention. The CD and State assemblies then “elect” delegates, who are supposedly unbound.

A couple thousand people out of a population of 5 million participate.

if all registered republicans actually showed up, there wouldn’t be enough meeting rooms to hold them in the entire state and the caucuses wouldn’t ‘work’. in fact, the GOPe is counting on just a very, very, very few showing up. that’s why the reserved caucus rooms are always so very, very, very tiny.

family members who have children to take care of, meals to prepare, and work to prepare for don’t have time to waste on a meaningless process where party insiders are going to steal the whole thing at the end anyway.

on the other hand, colorado is a mail-in ballot state for ALL elections, so a few hundred thousand would have voted in an actual primary, whereas the caucuses were held on a weeknight when people have to take care of their families and then go to work the next day.

btw, if this is such a wonderful process, shouldn’t all of our elections for everything require everyone to show up at 7pm to 8pm on a Tuesday night in order to vote?

(oh,and Bernie Goldberg is one of the ultimate GOP establishment tools and HATES, ABSOLUTELY HATES Donald Trump.)

The Founders left it up to the states to figure out how they wanted to nominate folks for president. Up until 1910 it was all done through probably even a tighter knit group of folks in a caucus and convention process.

The first primary where voters could participate directly was held in 1910 in Oregon - pushed by the Progressive Party.

First, just because the rules allowed Cruz to cheat, does not mean he should have.

As for participation of the Trumpites, check out what Larry Wayne Lindsey with the Douglas County, Colorado, GOP and a Trump supporter had to say about the delegate selection process.

To hell with the GOP! (updated video)

It appears that the deck was stacked all along

I’ve wanting to pose this question to a Cruz supporter, so it might as well be you.

Doesn’t it strike you as a bit creepy that your candidate married his own 3rd cousin. I understand that it enhances the chances for conception and is considered safe. And it sure helps a candidate that was eager to build a family quickly to enhance his chances in a run for the presidency.

But still and all.... doesn’t it give you pause ???

You do realize that you presumably have dozens of third cousins you nothing about, right? Your third cousins would be the great-grandchildren of one of the siblings of one of your 8 great-grandparents. You could potentially have hundreds of descendants after that many generations. This is a silly ignorant argument, only effective with those with limited intelligence.
