Cruz has rattled cages and annoyed his own party ever since he was elected to the Senate. All of you know that. He’s the ultimate outsider: no one likes him.
Cruz has no political capital whatsoever.
He’s running strictly on issues and his conservative record.
Imagine that.

Cruz isn’t disliked because he is an outsider. He is disliked because he is driven by ambition to the point where he “jumped to the front of the line” against the wishes of his GOPe superiors. He isn’t being a team player. But he’s on the team alright.
