Phyllis Schlafly Pushes Own Daughter To Resign Amid Cruz-Trump Split
Daily Caller ^ | 4/11/16 | Alex Pfeiffer

Longtime conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly has asked her daughter and five others to resign from the board of Eagle Forum after tension spread through the group over Schlafly’s endorsement of Donald Trump.

Schlafly asked board members Eunie Smith, Carolyn McLarty, Anne Cori, Rosina Kovar, Shirley Curry, and Cathie Adams to step down in an April 10 letter. Cori is Schafly’s daughter. All but Curry have endorsed Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential primary.

In March, Schlafly endorsed Trump. She said, “we’ve been following the losers for so long — now we’ve got a guy who’s going to lead us to victory.”

One of the members that Schlafly is asking to resign, Cathie Adams, has previously said that Schlafly’s endorsement “is going to be widely dismissed. At 91, it is just totally unfair to impose upon someone who has such a beautiful legacy. … I think this was very much a manipulation. When you’re 91 and you’re not out with the grass roots all the time, it is very much taking advantage of someone.”

Schlafly wrote in the letter that she asks for these resignations with a “heavy heart.”

“I have fond memories of our work together and our friendships. I will cherish those,” she wrote. “I ask you to resign immediately from the Board, so that I may continue with Eagle Forum’s important work.”

The Eagle Forum in a statement Saturday alleged that the six board members are “pursuing a scheme to push Phyllis Schlafly out of Eagle Forum.”

The statement referred to them as the “Gang of Six,” and accused them of plotting to meet Monday to discuss their “hidden agenda.” The Eagle Forum alleged these board members as being backed by a “big, liberal law firm.”

The statement went on to accuse the members of refusing to return calls and insulting Schlafly.

If they take away our access to The Ballot Box what box does that leave us?
Don’t answer the question.
It looks like CW 2 has started within the Republican Party.

I don’t care what Schafly does. you said you’ve disowned family members because they think differently. So yes, it does suck to be you.

I never said I’ve “disowned” a family member. What a creative little mind you have.

Isn’t she one of the names listed on the “Blacklist” made by Cruz’s alleged girlfriend, Amanda Carpenter just recently?

Support, or else.

Conform. Or else.

If Trump had not entered the race, none of these issued would even be discussed.

Bull. Cruz and several of the also rans were discussing these issues long before Donald Trump decided to pretend to be a conservative.

Donald Trump began his campaign by poisoning the well against every other candidate and then when they fought back he complained and called them liars.

The fact of the matter is that it is Donald Trump who is the biggest liar of all. Not only has he ruined the chances of a Republican victory in November but he has pretty much destroyed this forum. It literally pains me to open up this forum and read some of the vitriol directed at anyone who doesn't worship at the altar of the Trump tower.

I support Trump and I don’t view him as the “Conservative Messiah”. I see him as a bridging agent to move us closer to smaller government when it is realistically feasible. We cannot get a pure as the rain-driven snow Conservative agenda until we unite our fellow countrymen and grow the right-wing. THEN, we can influence those who have joined one issue at a time starting with the existential issues like JIHAD SEEDING in the USA and open borders plus free trade. Trump is right on target with these issues and capable of getting crossovers.

Ed Martin, the new president of EF, is a firm Trump supporter. He wants a clean slate so that he can hand the entire organization to Trump.

Ed is user and was involved is an email scandal when he was chief of staff for Gov. Blunt of Missouri. As a result Blunt finished out his one term and it cost the taxpayers of MO 2 million dollars.

He is also in the bag with Roger Stone.

“It literally pains me to open up this forum and read some of the vitriol directed at anyone who doesn’t worship at the altar of the Trump tower.”

I hope you don’t think I am attacking you personally. I disagree with your opinion but don’t feel any vitriol towards you.

If Cruz wins the nomination I will support him.

He is far better then Hillary.

But even Cruz, earlier in the campaign, credited Trump with framing the narrative and allowing a discussion of important issues.

I wish Trump and Cruz could have worked together. They seemed to be in agreement until Iowa when Cruz began working closely with Glenn Beck. The moving of Bush people to the Cruz campaign and the alliance with Lindsey Graham and others made Cruz far more critical of Trump.

Again, I realize Trump is far from perfect. I understand your reservations.

The important thing is to defeat Hillary.

I support Trump and I don’t view him as the “Conservative Messiah”. I see him as....

That's the problem. People see in him what they want to see. They ignore his past. They ignore his recent statements that contradict statements he made a week ago.

What people want is someone who will scratch their itching ears.

The fact of the matter is that all Donald Trump has done is talk and when he does he talks out of both sides of his mouth. And if you don't like what he is promising to do today, then he will say the opposite tomorrow. And if you point it out, then he will call you a liar and get pastors to lead chants calling you "lying Marlowe".

Frankly I am fed up with Donald Trump's poisoning of the well. Go vote for him. But don't try to convince me that he is a conservative. He isn't. He's a populist and he will give the people what they want and only about 25% of "the people" have any conservative values or principles.

When the "populist" Donald Trump is elected president, he will find a way to please the majority of the populace and ignore every conservative principle he never held in the first place.

Right now I am praying for a contested convention. I don't see any other way out. Trump is not going to save this nation.

The level of hatred directed at Trump has risen to ridiculous levels.

Umm, this article is about a Trump fan being noninclusive to the point of firing her own daughter.
