I am concluding the GOP wants to lose really really big to be rid of the problematic voters. They just want to consolidate power and money.
For X to steal something from Y Mr. X must first own it. The Republican nomination is owned by the Republican Party. It is not owned by Trump or Cruz. It was not owned by Romney. It was not owned by McCain or Bush.
The Alice-in-Wonderland of some Trumpsters is on a par with the occupy Wallstreet types who claim that the poor own the property of the rich. And the rich just stole it from the poor.
The GOPe doesn't care, they win with Hillary.
