Ted Cruz delegate-wrangling operation outclassing Trump
American Thinker ^ | 04/09/2016 | Rick Moran

Ted Cruz's delegate-hunting operation is running rings around Donald Trump's team, and he's making gains because of it.

In North Dakota last weekend and Colorado this weekend, Cruz's team is out-hustling and outmanuevering Donald Trump, probably picking up a majority of unbound and "uncommitted" delegates in both states.

Fox News:

While Donald Trump still holds the delegate lead in the GOP presidential primary race, his Achilles heel has been a perceived weakness in his ground game. Seeking to capitalize on this, Cruz has outmaneuvered Trump lately in the behind-the-scenes battle for delegates in places that don't assign them through traditional primaries or caucuses.

Enter states like North Dakota, and now Colorado.

Both eschewed traditional primary elections and instead held conventions -- where delegates not necessarily bound to any candidate are selected. Cruz saw this as an opportunity anyway to get allies elected to the slate, banking on their support in the event of an open convention.

The candidate, after picking up more likely delegate allies than Trump in last weekend's North Dakota convention, has been on a roll in Colorado.

Thirty-four delegates are at stake in the convention process, and the Cruz campaign told Fox News on Friday afternoon it has picked up 15 delegates so far in a series of local GOP meetings. The process culminates Saturday at the state convention where a final 13 delegates will be selected.

In Colorado, delegates can pledge themselves to a candidate or run unbound. Those who do pledge only do so for the first round of voting at the convention in Cleveland. The Cruz campaign says the pro-Cruz delegates selected so far are a mix of pledged and unbound but say they will back Cruz in Cleveland.

He will never get my vote at this point.

I also do not believe it to be possible for him to take office even if he won an election.

With the loss of Scalia, the Democrats will challenge his eligibility, it will go to the courts, and there would be zero paths to get a Ted Cruz inauguration through the at best deadlocked supreme Court.

Obama would remain in office for the interim.

“Ted is taking the process seriously”
He has to take this process seriously since he obviously cannot win by the normal process of getting people to vote for him.

I have long maintained that the Establishment does not want Bernie, and does not want Trump, and does not want Cruz.

The Establishment is putting all its chips on a Hillary win. And if Hillary gets knocked out, then Obama may “volunteer” for a third term.

And I think the Republicans would support him. I think the Democrats would support him. And I think the Supreme Court would support him.

Because this country is lost.

“In 2012, after the primaries, Romney found he was being outmaneuvered by the Paul people in the matter of hanging onto delegates, until he, just like Trump, realized he needed experts to deal with this.”

I guess it all worked out just hunky dory for Mitt in the end, right?

Cruz has fully embraced the (Islam is a religion of peace) Bush family.

When I saw the first headline saying that Neil Bush was becoming part of Team Cruz, I knew that the fix was in, be it part of the GOP establishment's Plan C, D or any other letter in the alphabet. Since around that time, Ted's very reason for living seems to have become nothing more than to stop Trump, and very little else. No more "Mr. Smith goes to Washington" moments, no more "outsider" talk, no more of what had drawn me to him up to the teddy bears at the border incident, and made me at least give him credit where (I thought) credit was due.

Now I'm pretty much convinced he has been an establishment climber who wasn't well liked by the "cool kids" in DC, but he said what he needed to say to get a bloc of strict interpretation voters and a bloc of religious voters (who overlap to some extent). He still needs them both, but in the end he is going to have to choose between his adoring "conservative/religious" supporters and the establishment. I think I know who wins when the push becomes the shove.

True. When Trump fails to get the required 1237, Cruz will destroy him on the second ballot at the convention.

Only a few short months away.

I'm thinking that after the deadlock or after Roberts obeys his masters and sides with the libs, that's when we would see Romney/Ryan-the-Savior be "pushed" into accepting the job of being Cruz's replacement, with the other one as VP.

I really think these people are that stupid.

Of course, the Uniparty's first choice will be to prevent all that trouble by hijacking the convention, but if there are a few million Trumpeters milling around outside daring them to do it, they may go with the option above & do it the hard way.

So it’s cheating for Cruz to understand the process and play accordingly?! Yeah, that makes a LOT of sense. If Trump is such a great winner, why doesn’t he read the rule book so that he can play the game? Cruz is simply doing what Obama did to Hillary in 2008, and what Hillary is doing to Sanders. Cruz sees that the “art of the deal” is getting delegates, not JUST winning the popular vote. If Trump is going to get outwitted in this simple procedure, then he is not as smart as he claims to be. Wise up and read the rule book. The rules have been written for years.

Now go ahead and call me some names. It’s apparently the only thing that you’re good at doing.

I posted this on another thread ...
Cruz needs 88% of the remaining delegates and Trump has just brought in a guy that is going to stop that dead in it’s tracks ... even if they steal it from Trump , the majority of Trump voters will not vote for Cruz ...the Cruz folks have got a tiger by the tail here and they are panicking ...so what do they do , they attack an old school true Conservative - Manafort ...they are pathetically unreal

The Democrat party will most certainly challenge Cruz’s eligibility if he is nominated for either President or VP. They are not some disgruntled individual. If Cruz’s documents are not in order they can and will keep him off the ballot.

Trump has to get a big establishment boy to fight his battles I thought he had this nomination won long ago. He even had the media convinced he was the front runner— live by the polls die by the polls. He had so much media attention along with Jeb that no one else got much.

Trump is hardly perfect, but it is perfectly clear that the process and the establishment’s (everyone inside the DC golden circle both dems and reps) have gone totally mad to make sure an outsider (cruz doesn’t qualify as an outsider, hell he can’t even legally run) doesn’t get in to see what they have hidden and are hiding from us all.

In addition, the way the media so boldly lines up against him too, as do all the other powers of both parties, this surly indicates something is rotten. This is very serious! This is a total hoze job and a FUBAR situation to us all.

If TRUMP is robbed as it now seems he will be with EVERYONE of power against him SOMETHING will have to be done because this will no longer be America. We have been lied to and we have no country nor government. Guess they would have a tough time keeping this folly afloat with NOOOOOOOOOOOO funds coming in for them to throw away and play with!!!!!!!!!!

IF Trump falls short of 1237 it won’t be by much. He will simply cut a deal with Kasich which I’m sure Kasich is counting on and walk into the convention with 1237 plus delegates.

Ted Cruz on the other hand will be so far short of 1237 that Trump will be his only hope and it looks to me like that ship has likely sailed.
