After hearing from several of their transgender friends that they felt uncomfortable using the bathroom at school, Springfield Central High School seniors Tatieana Lopez and Tiffany Adon decided to do something about it.
Both students are members of the school's Gender Equality Club, and felt that everyone should be able to feel safe using a bathroom.
"We both have a couple of trans friends, and we were told about a couple of intersex students at the school," Adon said. "She (Lopez) talked to a student about how they don't really use the bathroom because they are not comfortable enough. I also had a friend who didn't use the bathroom either because he didn't feel like he could pass as a trans man."
After discussing some options, the students decided to approach the School Centered Decision Making Team, which is made up of teachers, parents, administrators and students.
"They presented this idea to us and there were certainly some concerns, particularly about safety and how we would monitor the use of the bathrooms," said Principal Thaddeus Tokarz. "I have to say that every issue that I presented for them, they were able to come up with a solution."
After scouting the building, the students found two faculty bathrooms on the third floor that could be used as gender neutral bathrooms. The bathrooms were already accessible to anyone with disabilities, so all that was needed were signs identifying the bathrooms as gender neutral.

Lopez will go on to Pace University in New York City, where she will study psychology. Adon plans to study sociology, but is not sure where yet.

[ They are actually a good thing. We have them and its the only place you can go to take a dump in private. ]
I know a guy who only poops at home, and i really don’t blame him for doing so.
“I also had a friend who didn’t use the bathroom either because he didn’t feel like he could pass as a trans man.”
Apparently that individual is only playing dress-up, and lacks the anatomy to pee standing up.
Twenty years ago no one here would have believed this would even be considered. Reagan was correct Freedom is never more than a generation away from tyranny.
Several transgender friends? Several?
Once in college, I was in a hurry between classes, so I rushed into the restroom and just had time to make a mental note of not remembering the curved walled I almost collided with. Rushed on in and saw a girl standing at the sink and one coming out of a stall. I won’t repeat what I exclaimed. I spun around and quickly left with the girls squealing with laughter. My one worry was — someone is going to see me exit this place.
Point being, the bathroom will probably go unused.
Guess all the guys over there like to whip it out in front of the gals.
Ya’ll have it wrong. The trans bathroom should be separate and have the ENTIRE room flush away when the cord is pulled.
