Merle Haggard Dead at 79

Merle Haggard has died after a series of recent health struggles. The legendary singer passed away on April 6, 2016, which was also his 79th birthday.
Haggard canceled tour dates in December of 2015 after he checked into a hospital and learned he had double pneumonia.

Dismissive in the sense that he had such little respect for the audience that he was ‘performing’ either stoned or drunk. It was barely singing, more like reading the lyrics from a cue card with no regard for tempo or what the band was playing behind him. I’d seen Johnny Cash perform stoned at his worst and it still wasn’t as bad as what Merle served up at that concert.

Merle wrote songs, some better than others... but he never did write a bad one.
