After 19 years of taxpayer-funded abortions, Minnesotans are paying for 39 percent of all abortions performed in the state. Taxpayers have funded more than 73,000 abortions at a cost of $22.5 million, according to a just-released report from the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). Taxpayer-funded abortions numbered almost 4,000 in Minnesota in 2014; nearly all of those abortions were elective.
Taxpayers are forced to fund abortions due to a successful 1995 challenge to Minnesotas law which prohibited funding of most abortions. Since then, abortion advocates have steadily marketed taxpayer-funded abortions to low-income women. Taxpayers now pay for 39 percent of all abortions (up from 34.2 percent in 2013), the highest percentage ever.
Aggressive promotion of abortion to economically vulnerable women is enriching the states abortion industry, said Scott Fischbach, Executive Director of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL). It is time to end this exploitation of low-income women and their unborn children.
Minnesota taxpayers have been required to fund elective abortions since the Minnesota Supreme Courts 1995 Doe v. Gomez ruling. In that decision, the Court created a state right to abortion on demand and obligated all taxpayers to fund abortions, including purely elective procedures.
Since the Doe v. Gomez ruling, taxpayers have paid $22,507,205 for a total of 73,171 abortion procedure claims. Taxpayers 2014 portion (the latest available) was $953,187 for 3,957 abortions. Prior to the court decision, taxpayers were charged about $7,000 per year for about two dozen abortions in cases of rape and incest and to save the life of the mother.
Planned Parenthoods taxpayer funded abortion claims rose 40 percent in 2014, after rising 45 percent in 2012 and 2013. Planned Parenthood increased its revenues from taxpayer funded abortions in 2014 by 39 percent to $410,713; it filed claims for 1,801 abortions, which represented 45 percent of the claims that year.

Whole Womans Health, which purchased and merged two abortion facilities in Minneapolis, filed 1,081 abortion claims, the second most. The abortion business has paid several large fines for breaking the law in Texas. Legislation currently before Minnesota lawmakers (S.F. 616, H.F. 606) would require the states five surgical abortion facilities to be licensed and inspected by the Department of Health as outpatient surgical centers. None is licensed or inspected by the state.
Polls continue to show that most Minnesotans and most Americans are opposed to taxpayer funded abortions, yet they continue to be forced to pay for them, Fischbach said.
MCCL helped to pass a ban on taxpayer funded abortion during the 2011 legislative session; it was vetoed by Gov. Mark Dayton. Similar legislation (S.F. 683, H.F. 607) was introduced last year in the Minnesota Senate and House of Representatives. The measure would end the forced funding by taxpayers of this mistreatment of poor women and the killing of unborn children.
fyi
That’s a lot of money for birth control. How about they keep their legs shut.
God help us that the “courts declare” abortion to be legal. But why should the taxpayer be forced - at arms - to fund it?
I wonder what kind of females live there.
Nearly 40% of the state’s abortion being done on low-income women? Margaret Sanger would be grinning from ear to ear...
Minnesotans who continue to pay state income taxes are willing accomplices to murder.
Answer to the tax man or answer to God.
Hint: You do NOT want to be a sinner in hands of an angry God.
You assume only unmarried women have abortions. Many married women have them for many reasons.
What actionable options would you suggest for believer Minnesotans?
At least beyond these (at a minimum):
Donate to MCCL, Protest at Capital, Write letters to editor, Vote out Gov. Mark Dayton at every opportunity, Urge Church to speak out on it.
For the saved, what must they do to avoid the Creator's wrath? Should they pay their rightful taxes owed less a ratio percentage associated with taxpayer paid abortions? Maybe just move out of state?
Christ told us to render to Caeser...as well as to render to God...
What say you TruthInThoughtWordAndDeed?
>God help us that the courts declare abortion to be legal. But why should the taxpayer be forced - at arms - to fund it?
Like H-Care, housing, college, etc.....If it requires someone ELSE to pay for it, it’s not a Right.
Course, the glo-bull warming ‘science’ crowd would be the most scientifically ‘illiterate’ if the case were ever to come up through the Courts again. ‘Settled science’ would go out the window and, IMO, they’d argue after 9 months there IS a *possibility* to birth a puppy instead of a human child /s
Not to make light but....
>Future taxpayers that would be paying into social security.
at least they’re not economic slaves!
The Bible says:
If you owe taxes, pay taxes... Romans 13:7
You must first determine IF you owe taxes.
Minnesota Statutes are very vague in the area of income taxes. They merely say “generally, if you owe Federal Income taxes...”, but they never give the specific conditions that make you liable for Minnesota Income taxes or state explicit filing requirements. They are predicated on Federal Income tax definitions and statutes.
However, when you look up Federal Income tax statutes, you will find them just as vague. They say “any person liable blah blah blah” but never state how a person becomes liable for an income tax. They just hope that you do not investigate how one becomes liable for an income tax.
If you go this route, however, expect to be ridiculed and persecuted.
The Federal government does not want you to be informed.
Sorry. Gotta run. I am at work.
We are seeing a lot lately on disproportionate impact, whether it is death penalty, police shootings or incarcerations.
I would seriously like to know what number and proportion of these that are disproportionately poor are the killing black babies, if anyone is able to get that information.
Black babies (African-American) are more than three times as likely to be killed in an abortion. I suspect that number is even higher when a government program is involved.
Where is the outrage? Maybe we can halt the program on that basis or at least weaken the love between that ‘community’ and what liberals are doing to them.
