Your backhanded reference indicates to me that to your mind, a Christian who expresses his faith in Jesus as part of his world view (and in the context of Matthew 7:20) while pursuing elected office is a negative.

All Christians should express their faith in Jesus in all areas of life but to claim to be “the face of God” or “anointed as King” or “ sent to lead us through the Rapture” as Cruz has allowed be repeatedly said about him by others and not to recognize that he is just a man who serves God goes way beyond expressing faith in Jesus. It sounds arrogantly like a competitor to Jesus.
