Your logic is exactly the same that people were employing to try to induce us to hold our noses and vote for Romney, and look where that got us—it egged on the GOPe and we lost the election anyway.
Have you ever heard of voting your conscience? The Founding Fathers were right—political parties are toxic to the electoral process.
The logic that got us to vote for Romney was the logic of NOT giving up, even when things look bleak. I hated voting for Romney, but I knew it was far better than just not voting and allowing the O’ster to win uncontested. Talk about voting your conscience; was it not unconscionable for those who stayed home in 2012 to — effectively — throw the election to Obama?? Yeah, Romney was no conservative’s dream candidate, but — throwing the election to Obama??
My logic is the kind of logic that says, “NEVER AGAIN!”
My logic is the logic that recognizes that — flaws warts and all — EVERY LAST ONE of OUR candidates is better for this country than ANY of theirs.
So get your conscience untangled from the candidate of your preference, and get it zeroed in on the country and the Constitution you vow to defend. Recognize that — come November — your duty to your country amounts to keeping certain vile persons out of office every bit as much as putting a certain person into office; votes are ALWAYS a double-edged sword: affirmation for one candidate and denial of the other.
So when you’ve got a weak and flawed candidate, and your vote’s affirmation isn’t strong, your vote’s denial of the other candidate must become the impetus you take to the polls.
