Feds Propose to Fine Schools for Not Following Michelle's Lunch Directives
PJ Media ^ | 03/29/2016 | Michael Walsh

They say it's broccoli, and they say the hell with it. But Big Brother is watching you, kids:

The federal government is taking steps to fine schools that do not comply with first lady Michelle Obama’s school lunch rules. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service issued a proposed rule Monday to codify parts of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, which was championed by Mrs. Obama.

The regulation would punish schools and state departments with fines for “egregious or persistent disregard” for the lunch rules that imposed sodium and calorie limits and banned white grains.

It can't happen here? Think again:

A West Virginia preschool teacher was threatened with fines for violating the rules by rewarding her students with candy for good behavior in June 2015. The teacher ultimately did not have to pay, but the school had to develop a “corrective action plan” with training on the policies.

The government now seeks to make fines enforceable by regulation. Section 303 of the law requires that the federal government “establish criteria for the imposition of fines” for all the Department of Agriculture’s child food programs.

“Under section 303, the Secretary or a State agency may establish an assessment against any school food authority or school administering the Child Nutrition Programs if the Secretary or the State agency determines that the school or school food authority failed to correct severe mismanagement of any program, failed to correct repeated violations of program requirements, or disregarded a requirement of which they have been informed,” the proposed rule states.

Liberalism: forcing you to love Big Brother one chickenscat regulation at a time. Does anyone seriously believe this is what our Founders had in mind when they sought to establish a federal government of limited powers? Instead we now have a bloated, wasteful, inefficient and malevolent government whose first instinct is to reach for the stick to make you to eat that carrot.

So, they take the money, and make you behave in order to get (some small part) of it back. Sounds like a plan. It’s worked for years, with the 55MPH speed limits, 21 drinking age, seat belt compliance, etc., etc., etc...

Michelle says, “Eat your kale,” while she downs yet another hero sandwich.

She is to cuisine as barack is to government.

Imagine that. The schools are being threatened by an unelected idiot and will have to either pay the fine or hire lawyers to defend against mooch’s demands. Either way, the taxpayers of the school district will have to pay.

[This woman has no power!!] THINK AGAIN. First Lady Hillary Clinton's role in the secret proceedings of the Health Care Task Force also sparked litigation in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, in relation to the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) which requires openness in government. The Clinton White House argued that the Recommendation Clause in Article II of the U.S. Constitution would make it unconstitutional to apply the procedural requirements of FACA to Mrs. Clinton's participation in the meetings of the Task Force. Some constitutional experts argued to the court that such a legal theory was not supported by the text, history, or structure of the Constitution. Ultimately, Hillary Clinton won the litigation in June 1993, when the D.C. Circuit ruled narrowly that the First Lady of the United States could be deemed a government official (and not a mere private citizen) for the purpose of not having to comply with the procedural requirements of FACA.

All Dept. of Agriculture employees and Moocher should be forced back to grade school and learn American History:

“On the 23d of June 1775 Gen Bayley prepared an address to the Northern Indians which is here given in full Newbury Coos June 23 1775.The present war is only between the King and a part of the Lords and America. The Lords say all Americans shall become slaves or servants to them shall plow no more than they say EAT NOR DRINK nor war nor hunt but only by their leave shall not kill deer moose beaver or any other thing but by their consent. Americans say they will and that the King by the Lords advice has sent redcoats to kill us if we will not be subject to what they say. And we have THIRTY THOUSAND MEN WITH GUNS GREAT AND SMALL [my caps] to fight in our defense we only want to live as we have lived here to fore. We do not want to fight if they would let us alone.”-p73, “History of Newbury, Vermont: From the Discovery of the Coös Country to ...” edited by Frederic Palmer Well
