A Washington Times writer was abruptly fired after he “came clean” on Twitter about the Ted Cruz sex scandal. The writer, Drew Johnson, confirmed via his Twitter account that there was some truth to the Ted Cruz affair rumors noting that he knows at least two of the mistresses named by the National Enquirer are accurate. The columnist says that other media outlets, columnists and reporters knew about the affairs, but refused to run the story.

The National Enquirer has caused a media firestorm after publishing a cover story about GOP presidential hopeful Ted Cruz and a series of alleged mistresses. The publication is a known tabloid, but despite its reputation for the sensational, has broke a number of big stories related to political candidates and high profile cases in the past. For example, the National Enquirer was the first to break stories about Gary Hart, Jesse Jackson and John Edwards before they were confirmed by the mainstream media. Therefore, when the tabloid decided to run with a story about Ted Cruz and his rumored “five mistresses,” it left some questioning if the bombshell report could be true.

In response to the story in question, a Washington Times columnist responded that it is not entirely bogus as from “what he knows” at least two of the mistresses outlined in the report are “accurate.”

Cruz should just quit and give Trump the win before he's even earned it? Right. If he did, you'd castigate him for being a quitter. Your guy should have to win fair and square and not rely on quitters.

This scandal you speak of only exists in the fever swamp of your mind. There is no evidence of a scandal other than the innuendo you so desperately want everyone to believe is fact. Like Trump, you underestimate the intelligence of the electorate. If Trump is everything you claim he is, then he shouldn't have any trouble winning the nomination. Then I will support him.

You heap scorn on Cruz for staying in, when he has a path to the nomination, but say nothing about the democrat running as a republican who has absolutely no chance of winning. Interesting.

I suppose you would have been telling Reagan to drop out in '76 since he was keeping Ford from gaining enough delegates to win prior to the convention.

Now you guys are already trying to blame Ted for Trump's inevitable loss to Clinton. What happened to the candidate who was going to roll through the primaries and win 40 states? Not so sure anymore, are ya?

If the GOP nominates someone other than the Trump or Cruz, it will be the end of the Republican Party. You believe everything you're told, but I don't think for a minute that the party is going to commit suicide over either one of these candidates. But you believe what you want. Hell, you already believe Trump is a conservative.....so you'll believe just about anything.

It’s not just twisted. It’s the stuff of Twilight Zone time. Looking around the net at the comments being made for Trump and against Cruz and Cruz supporters, I’m finding it hard to believe, even when seeing and witnessing it with my own eyes.

Trump is ahead and he's the only candidate with a credible path to the nomination on the first ballot. Cruz is trying to stop Trump but his chances aren't good. He's not going to be handed the nomination by the GOPe. They will use him to keep Trump below a majority if they can then throw him under the bus.

This, by the way, is a less critical theory about Cruz than what I'm hearing from most Trump supporters, who seem to think Cruz is part of a GOPe conspiracy. I think he's just unrealistic about his ability to deal with the GOPe once they've got what they want out of him.

When, not if, Cruz fails to be nominated or chosen as VP his followers will walk away, just as Trump's will if the GOPe nominates some chump. The best way to avoid this is a Trump-Cruz alliance but neither will check their ego and make the deal.

Good news is Trump can probably win even if Cruz sticks around and then crush Hillary in the general.
