One time, effectively.
Newer phones have more secure hardware. Knowing how this was cracked, Apple will ensure the issue well be fixed.
Also, other security options remain available on the iPhone 5. Use the long passcode option, not the self destruct. They didn’t crack the other techniques.
I once tried to explain what a huge Google facility was to a group of LIV co-workers. After they accused me, basically, of tinfoil, one then kept reading the article and saw a comment by the mayor of a nearby city.
Well. I was thinking bigger, malware.crapware, bogus emails.
If you like your I-Phone privacy, then you can keep your I-Phone privacy. Period.
Apple has eggs on its face: “Impossible to hack our iPhone!”, Apple cried.
swordmaker posted diatribe after diatribe, Apple talking point after Apple talking point, proclaiming the iPhone unhackable.
Wouldn't it be easier just to liquidate her Clinton Foundation bank accounts?
Let her keep 500,000 to live on for the rest of her life.
Apple just wants you to think they’ve got you covered. They could always get in.
As I said.
We’ll hear from swordmaker once he gets his talking points from Apple. It will once again be a bunch of half truths, propaganda, and technical mumbo-jumbo that isn’t true.
From post #32 above.
The NSA probably did it and used the Israeli firm as a beard.
Still?
Uh, Mr. Chairman, point of order...
It seems to me that if Apple produces the firmware in the full knowledge of what it is supposed to do, wouldn't this be a "front door" rather than a "Back door"?
Isn't a "back door" supposed to be a secret hack that the manufacture doesn't know about?
Doubtful. It's on an obsolete model. The new phones use a hardware secure enclave. The problem is already fixed in later versions of the phone.
“It will once again be a bunch of half truths, propaganda, and technical mumbo-jumbo that isnt true.”
He is just doing his job!
lol. Nice. *sorry*
I bet you are right. I bet they cracked the phone open, then found a way to short the phone to lock before erase, kept rebooting and trying new passwords. They found a way to muck with the circuit that causes the erase.
I also bet they found nothing on the phone.
All they need to do is go to the SB mosque and waterboard every bastard in it to know what happened.
And there’s probably nothing on it since it was his work phone (owned by the County), and they, the terrorists, had wiped all their personally owned phones.
Impossible
Not with a HILLARIOUS WIPING TOWEL....
Hey, it keeps people like that off the street and away from their home computers trying to hack our SS #”s!
Dude. I have 2 degrees and 30 years experience.
You take the damned thing apart, and go into the chip containing the flash memory though ion-bean process and break the erase page control circuit. It can then send all the erases it wants to.
And by the way, even when erased you can recover the data from flash or HDDs due to shadow capacitance left.
I worked in the DOD related industry, and they *darned* well knew they could recover data, that’s why they crush drives or memory devices into powder. They have been able to recover for many years. Of course, they don’t want it commonly known :)
Wink wink, nod, nod. I’ll say no more.
