The NYT risible estimate of $1.9 billion fails to stand up to even casual scrutiny.
Consider the total advertising of Fox, the leading broadcast news company.

CNN revenues were about half of Fox and MSNBC were less than a third of Fox for the same two year period.
So two entire years of Fox's entire revenues amount to $1.5 billion, yet the NYT estimate $1.9 billion is just for this election cycle devoted solely to covering Trump.
What of the remaining news presented? What's the tally of the value of media attention given to fawning over Hillary Clinton over the decades? Certainly more then the gross GDP of many nations.
But that's the sort of accounting one expects for an enterprise on life support for more than almost a decade.
Implicit in Kristof’s whinging piece is that all of the media time benefits Trump. One would be hard pressed to find items favorable to Trump in by the MSM in any form.
Blind as ever to the pulse of Americans concerns, Kristof and his carrion eating cohort continues to gaze deeply into their collective navels and... Eureka find nothing but lint.
So fellow FReepers, when anyone tries to present that $1.9 - $2 billion dollar number be aware that it's just another fool or tool of the mass media doing their job while tugging their forelock. Smack ‘em down with the truth...in a sporting fashion of course.

Look at all Trump’s enemies. Is there one of them that you don’t consider to be your own enemy?
Most of the media stories were done to mock Trump. They weren’t butt kissing stories like Hillary’s gotten...” Oh, and what’s your favorite color Hillary? Do you like your eggs sunny side up or flipped over once?”
Only now, when it's too late, are a few of them realizing that they've been played. What the NYT article leaves out is that every article, interview and editorial was intended to hurt Trump, they just didn't work.
