Poll Suggests Donald Trump Would Be Weak Candidate in November

Donald J. Trump would be the weakest Republican presidential candidate to face off against Hillary Clinton in a general election matchup, according to a new poll that shows Senator Ted Cruz and Gov. John Kasich as stronger nominees against the Democratic front-runner.

According to a survey from Quinnipiac University, Mr. Trump continues to be the most popular candidate with Republican voters, but he trails Mrs. Clinton in a hypothetical matchup by a margin of six percentage points, 46 percent to 40 percent. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.

Mr. Kasich, who has won only Ohio, his home state, so far, is the strongest against Mrs. Clinton, leading her by 8 points while Mr. Cruz trails Mrs. Clinton by 3 points.

The poll finds that Senator Bernie Sanders, who is also facing long odds in his race with Mrs. Clinton, would be the strongest Democratic candidate in matchups against Mr. Trump and Mr. Cruz, and he is essentially tied with Mr. Kasich.

Like like the Zika virus, Trumpism takes full control of body and mind paralyzing critical thought. Sorry for offending your “Dear Leader”

Cruz can’t take the lead in the GOP, yet they fantasize that he has crossover appeal. Reality is so far from that.

If this were really true the Left would be pushing for Trump to be the Republican nominee. They are not doing that.

On the other hand, facts suggest the NYT is going broke and will become just another paywall “news” website among millions that few will read and even fewer will pay for.

Don’t need a weatherman, or a poll, to know which way the wind blows.

Show us an electoral map and point to us the battleground states where Ted Cruz is going to win. Yeah, the only one you’ll be able to color in is Texas. He’s toast in every other one. We should all feel confident that he got a whopping 17% in Florida and an equally whopping 13% in Ohio in Republican primaries. Yup, I’m confident Ted will do well in those states considering he’s shown no strength with independents. Cruz would get a Goldwater style thrashing, and he would be the absolute WORST candidate the GOP would put up in November.

You sound like a Cruz cult member. Your guy is the one claimed to be on a divine mission so the brain washing is on your side.

I do not believe this, just the opposite.

The only one Hillary is afraid of, is Trump.

There is also the vote of the college educated.

A February Quinnipiac poll showed that the higher the education, the greater the turnout in voting among that class. Voters with a Bachelors or higher enjoy a turnout of 75% to 81%. Similarly, when those larger groups of educated voters are polled about Trump, he has the highest unfavorable rating of any candidate running, at 66%.

Little wonder, that Trump, after his Nevada win, said something to the effect of, “I love the least uneducated.”

Hey steely, I know you love to post this...however, my family all have college degrees...spouse has PhD and son has PhD and another son has MS and another has BS, I have BS, AS and partial work towards MBA. We are all Trump supporters...So don’t peddle your college educated don’t support Trump meme to me.

BTW, none of us use or answer land-lines, so of course we, like many, are not included in such silly polling data

Sorry, the but the desperation from you Cruz supporters is causing you to lose all ability to use reason and logic.

No, I think there is a real strategy here from Team Cruz to focus on fairy tale polls. They know they are going to get pounded in the real primaries by Trump and are trying to change the focus. Cruz hopes to keep Trump under 1237 and steal the nom at the convetion based on these fairy tale polls. Cruz: I’m the only one who can beat Hillary. Blah, blah, blah.

The opinions of these polls do not support the facts. Nor do the talking heads.

If the head was out of the azz, one would see it to be true.

True not TebTrue.

That man is a fraud.

Love to see that fraud unseal his records.

In the voice of GHW Bush, "Not going to Happen".

If the NYT has Trump losing to Hillary by only 6 points, that means he is kicking her butt

That’s not what the article was about.

It was about how trump is losing by between 6 and 18 points to Hillary.

could be nothing, could be something.

I guess we’ll find out.

Well, hundreds of Americans held hostage and a rescue attempt that didn’t get off the ground helped a little.

The only one Hillary is afraid of, is Trump.

She's been given the nomination even though she's got nothing but liberal play book 101. Head to head Trump makes her look foolish.

Fairy tale polls are not predictive of anything. Nate Silver, Jamie Dupree, Hannity, etc. All say they are garbage.

In regards to the 47%, it is worse than what you state. It is not 47% of women cannot vote for Trump, it is 47% of Republican women who say they will not vote for Trump. After observing the utter debasement and vileness of the Trump campaign has brought us, I say let the massacre occur, clear the air, and regroup four years down the road. If the GOP degenerates in the hands of the tatooed legions of Trump supporters, then bring me back to the days of the country club. At least we had class. If this makes me an elitist, than I will gladly embrace the term.

Isn’t is curious that the Trump people just love the Quinnipiac polls when it was agreeing with them. Now that it is negative they don’t believe it!
