“We will not be allowed to elect anyone as President who will enforce the laws and borders.”.......

Why would we elect another one when we already have a “presidents” like that? We need a true leader with a backbone and the will to use what ever is necessary to “Make America Great Again”.

It is too late in so many states, already.

TRUMP supporters already sat out their precinct meeting, their county convention, where they get selected to be delegates to their state convention, this summer.

TRUMP supporters in the states who have voted are already selected to their state convention.

It is at the State Convention they can try to be slated as a delegate to the National Convention, where all the trouble is going to be.

Exactly what rule has been broken?

I'm curious.

After over 4 decades of being a registered Republican, this past Monday I went to our election office and changed to “unaffiliated”. I am beyond disgusted with how the RNC is treating its front runner.

We have not had a President against amnesty since the last amnesty.

Truthfully we haven’t had one enforce the laws and borders vigorously since Ike.

Both parties want to keep it that way.

Trump is a direct threat to The Cheap Labor Express.
They are the ones funding all the stop Trump nonsense.

Precinct meetings are on the night of your respective state primary.

Next comes the County Convention, where you can volunteer to be a delegate to your State Convention, but first your County convention attendants vote for the slate of volunteers. There is an allocated number of County delegates who can go to the State Convention.

You have to volunteer early enough to beat the cut off number allocated. Or, you have to be an alternate delegate.

Next comes STATE Convention. You can volunteer to be a National delegate, and then an allocated number of volunteers are slated for representing your congressional district.

So where primaries have already occurred, and county conventions have been schedule and have occurred, it is too late.

State Primary Days are the turning point for developing the grassroots delegate slate.

Spending a few anonymous minutes in a voting booth a few times a decade is never going to result in restrained government, Trump or no.

The drawback of not being interested or involved in an ongoing basis in your own self-government is that when you see a critical situation, it’s too late. Someone else is going to get their way, a lot of times just by showing up. Fail to plan, plan to fail.

Why would you not support a contested convention if neither Trump nor Cruz reaches the 1237 delegate threshold (50% + 1)? That's akin to opposing the Convention of States.

The States elect delegates to send to the national convention much like they would for an Article 5 Convention of States. Those delegates are elected at local precincts, then district-wide, then state-wide. The state-wide delegates then represent their states at the national level.

If there were rampant caucus craud going on, as happened in 2008 for Democrats, then it would be wise - I'd say obligatory - to oppose a contested convention. But there hasn't been rampant fraud. You'd have heard about it when precinct caucuses were held. (Some still upcoming.) Trust me about the caucus fraud. I lived it in 2008 during Operation Chaos and have detailed it at length here at FR.

The delegates sent by the states to the national convention are the delegates who serve on the Rules Committee and propose the rules for the convention. The rules are not set in stone until the whole national convention of delegates approves them during a floor vote. The Rules Committee proposes who can and cannot be listed on ballots at the convention. Currently, most members of past Rules Committees agree that no candidate who did not run in this year's primary should be allowed on any ballot.

Instead of hollering about rules changes and contested convention chicanery, we need to make it crystal clear to Paul Ryan than he shall follow the rules passed by our elected delegates, because Boehner didn't in 2012. That's where we need to focus the wrath - Paul Ryan.

AMEN.

THE 1237 RULE SERVES AS THE FACILTATOR FOR ESTABLISHMENT MANIPULATION AND CORRUPTION OF DELEGATE NUMBERS.

Without that rule, there are no second and third ballots to destroy the popular vote of the state primaries.

Yea you’re right. That being said, the people who are telling us that Trump hasn’t planned for this are the same people who didn’t realize that he was planning to run for President let alone win. They didn’t know his strategy to run, didn’t know his strategy to win and I’m supposed to believe that THEY know his strategy at the convention. Not bloody likely. The problem with thinking you’re the smartest person in the room is that you can never imagine someone smarter.

TRUMP reaches 1237 and it has to be over.

UNLESS...... they cheat and prevent him from reaching 1237, as in UTAH with the ballot stuffing for Cruz, in all the upcoming states.

BECAUSE THESE DELEGATES HAVE ALREADY VOTED IN THEIR STATE PRIMARY.

BECAUSE THESE DELEGATES GET TO VOTE ONCE IN PRIMARY, AGAIN IN FIRST BALLOT, AGAIN IN SECOND BALLOT AND AGAIN IN A THIRD BALLOT IF DEEMED NECESSARY.

BECAUSE STATES ALLOCATE THEIR DELEGATE VALUE ON PRIMARY DAY.

BECAUSE THAT STATE ALLOCATION IS MANIPULATED AT NATIONAL CONVETION.

BECAUSE 1237 IS A FALSE NUMBER WHEN DELEGATES VOTE GET COUNTED *FOUR* TIMES TRYING TO REACH IT!

You’re incorrect. You don’t understand the process. If you want to have a conversation, please don’t post in all caps.

No. Many states have neither held primary elections nor held state-level caucuses to elect delegates. So there is no such thing as "these delgates" because they haven't yet been elected.

No. States were required to submit their delegate selection plans to the Secretary of the Republican National Committee by October 1, 2015. (RRP Rule 16f)

I doubt a majority of national delegates have even been selected yet.

No. Voters vote in primaries. Delegates get elected by voters at caucuses to represent the voters who elected them. Just like the Electoral College.

There is no "deemed necessary." No one deems anything. The elected delegates vote on rules for the convention. The rules provide a process to follow when no candidate comes to the convention having received 50% + 1 of the required number of delegates. That number is required by the rules - voted for by the elected delegates.

It's very similar to the process followed by the Electoral College and would be very similar to the process for an Article 5 Convention of States. You're not opposed to either of those, are you?

No, it isn't. States submit a delegate allocation plan to the RNC in October before the primary election begins. Candidates are awarded delegates (after the primary election) based on the plans submitted to the RNC.

I think we understand each other perfectly.

One of us likes “the plan” and the “awards”. One of us doesn’t.

Delegates are unnecessary in the 21st Century, except for manipulating outcomes of the popular vote by the people.

No. There are 2,472 Republican delegates this year. 1,237 is 50% + 1 of 2,472.

Theoretically, the whole slate of national convention delegates could decide (by voting in a rule change) that 50% + 1 is too high of a bar and lower the threshold. The power lies with the elected delegates not the GOPe.
