Seventy years ago, there was “the greatest generation.” Later, Generation X became known as the slacker generation. Today, millennials are turning out to be the anxious generation.
Numerous recent studies have shown that millennials suffer from anxiety at a much higher rate than generations that preceded them. What’s wrong with kids these days?
A lot, actually. They’re the first generation raised with Internet. The first generation to experience “helicopter” parenting. They’re at once constantly exposed on social media but also permanently sheltered by overbearing parents. They’re not the first generation to experience a rough economy, but they certainly act as if they were.

And also it puts them a better position to support us in our later years, should we run into financial difficulties. We must get back to extended families.
LOL! I always tell my kids that they’re the ones that are going to be spoon-feeding us gruel in those days. We laugh... sort of.
Makes a huge difference if you can sock away some money in your 20s, as opposed to starting in your 30s.
And by the way, adding to my prior post in the 80 year cycle, the article says the current millennial generation has the worst anxiety in “80 years”. Coincidence?

My oldest has no idea how much he is putting away in his company sponsored 401K that he let me handle. I'm not really telling him how much he's putting away, but he's living at home so all he makes is gas in the car and gravy. So when he starts the stupid talk about buying a motorcycle I know at least he will avoid some of the idiotic things I did as a kid.
First generation not to be disciplined.
First generation to be allowed to act out and have “meltdowns”.
First generation to believe minimums are excellence.
First generation to be awarded “participation trophies” for just trying.
First generation not to keep score.
First generation that thinks what they think is more important than anyone else.
First generation to fail miserably.
Without question the culprit generation that caused the mess.
Best advice I can give anyone is to make it a point a few hours per day, and even more on weekends....

This is total nonsense. Previous generations got up and went to work. On Sunday they went to church. They supported their families and dealt with far more real life anxiety than these little cupcakes.
Millennial are products of the leftist education system and the leftist media. They don't work hard. They don't accept responsibility. They whine about being victims.
The so-called greatest generation were the men and women who came of age during the depression and fought in WW2, in their 20s at that time. They weren't the leaders but they provided the youth, vigor, energy to go and execute the plans of the elder generation. They then went on to then become the leaders in the early cold war era (late 50s-60s). To them, men like JFK, Truman was an old man, certainly not part of their generation.
But was he really from one generation prior or two? Truman was 45 when the depression started and was 61 when WW2 ended. That's the last crisis period. A little on the older side but the line isn't black and white. I'd say he was born at the very beginning of that last "nomad" generation. Fast forward 80 years and the next nomads were born during the late 60s - late 80s (i.e. GenX). But yeah, the case could be made that he was really from the prior generation. This is art more than it is science. But it's kind of fun to pretend the world is predictable and that we can rest assured that the 20 years of national agony that started with 9/11 are going to end in a few years.

Be careful with generalizations. There are a lot of boomer names on the Wall, including many of my Marine brothers.
