At some point the issue will grow to suck all of the oxygen out of the media. This is a scandal beyond everything seen before. This will be Obama’s enduring legacy when it hits the media. I have no doubt it will. It cannot be contained. With Clinton’s aides on schedule to be subpoenaed in May more and more information will be made public.

There’s going to be a growing crescendo of dumped details not only from Judicial Watch as the federal judge signs the subpoenas but also from Guccifer’s testimony.

If Trump wasn’t running I wouldn’t expect the uniparty to use the issue. With Trump in the picture, it will be a major campaign issue. At some point due to the magnitude of the betrayal, Clinton will be offered a Petraeus deal.

That is Clinton’s blue pill after which she will retire for medical reasons which preclude her prosecution and running for president. A pardon will cinch the deal.

The red pill will be administered if the blue pill is not swallowed. That will be take place extra judicially.

Good post.

I think the degree of public interest and general outrage will depend on a few things that we simply cannot quantify yet: We do not know the actual content of the very worst and most valuable secrets which were exposed(and probably should never know); we do not know whether any secrets were actually lost to potential enemies such as Chinese, Muslim extremists, Russians, Iranians(so we do not know if she can claim no harm no foul); we do not know whether there is a tie-in between the general scheme to use an illegal server and a illicit diversion of monies to the Clinton foundation by selling her office.

In the absence of these particulars, and no doubt more, it is difficult for the public to get a bumper sticker understanding of the wrongdoing. It all is so amorphous, Hillary lied (she has always lied and paid no penalty), she broke some in house rules of the State Department (she was empowered in many respects to make or break those rules) and some statutes which are very difficult for the lay person to comprehend, or to comprehend the need for them, she profited only indirectly from the Clinton Foundation but it is difficult (but not impossible, yet beyond a reasonable doubt?) to tie in any particular act as Secretary of State to enriching that foundation.

All of these are extremely grave crimes and I have no doubt of Hillary's guilt but that is not to say that they translate into a wave issue for the general public. It depends, as you point out, on the president and his agenda and I it will also depend on the left-wing media which heretofore has always supported the Clintons but The New York Times, for example, now shows signs of abandoning her. Right wing media alone in an election season can be discounted as mere electioneering.
