Herewith, a second prediction. Republican wailing over his prospective nomination aside, Donald Trump could beat Hillary Clinton like a drum in November.
Indeed, only the fear that Trump can win explains the hysteria in this city. Here is the Washington Post of March 18: As a moral question it is straightforward. The mission of any responsible Republican should be to block a Trump nomination and election.
The Orwellian headline over that editorial: To defend our democracy, the GOP must aim for a brokered convention. Beautiful. Defending democracy requires Republicans to cancel the democratic decision of the largest voter turnout of any primaries in American history. And this is now a moral imperative for Republicans.
Like the Third World leaders it lectures, the Post celebrates democracyso long as the voters get it right. Whatever one may think of the Donald, he has exposed not only how far out of touch our political elites are, but how insular is the audience that listens to our media elite.
Understandably, Trumps rivals were hesitant to take him on, seeing the number he did on little Marco, low energy Jeb, and Lyin Ted. But the Big Mediathe Post, Wall Street Journal, New York Timeshave been relentless and ruthless.
Yet Trumps strength with voters seemed to grow, pari passu, with the savagery of their attacks. As for National Review, The Weekly Standard and the accredited conservative columnists of the big op-ed pages, their hostility to Trump seems to rise, commensurate with Trumps rising polls.

You really should see a doctor about having your meds adjusted.
Are you really that naive to think that Trump is going to get any air time criticize Hillary?
Homework?....look at the trail of death and destruction everywhere she touched...are you drunk?
I sent one privatly let me put it in public....go F uself.
will Pat be upset when neither are nominated?
Don't forget--The GOP is called the Stupid Party for a reason.
Trump is a unifier. Except for the intelligentsia that Pat says let walk.
Electorate to GOPe: “You just don’t get it”
GOPe and Dems (the puppet masters) to Electorate: “No. YOU don’t get it. WE run this show.
Putting aside all of the negatives and positives of individual candidates, and party loyalty, my gut says this country is not eager to elect a female president.
I believe it will take a female VP nominee first to break that barrier.
Both Trump and Clinton turn off so many in their respective parties that it might will be a low turn out low voter election. With the Dims head start in the electoral college she could very well win, perhaps not carrying the popular vote.
No matter who wins there are going to be a lot of folks simply giving up on the political process IMO
Thank you for playing tonite.
Johnny, what do have for Seaplaner?
Funny how you failed to mention mcnutts and mittens throwing the last two elections but you are so sure that Trump is in it to lose it.
That statement is belied by the facts.
To date, participation in Republican primaries is at historic highs and well in excess of previous election cycles. Ironically, the fact that Trump hasn't wrapped up the 1237 delegates has probably helped him as we may well have California be in position to put him over the top in June. This will continue to drive turnouts and those voters will feel they have skin in the game.
The Democrat turnout so far is well under what they had last time around.
Legal hispanics support Mr Trump in large numbers.
Yep and they will keep on coming right up to election day and then watch what happens.
Speaking of anti-democratic....
Is there anything more corrupt than “Superdelagates” rigging the vote and voiding the competition for the Democrat Party nomination?
Why has nobody in the media criticized this?
You are not paying attention. They are just not that into her.
Are you that naïve to believe the media will ignore their greatest ratings bonanza ever? Think again.
Hillary cannot win. Not with a loser campaign logo. Bad logos never win.
The polls from March 1980 showed Carter beating Reagan by a larger margin. I believe that many polls this far out are taken to shape opinion, not reflect it.
