Little Marian Parker--Al Craver (Vernon Dalhart), 1928

Marian Parker, a schoolgirl, was murdered on Saturday, December 17, 1927, after having been kidnapped and held for ransom. The perpetrator was caught, convicted and executed by hanging just a few months later. The house where she lived still stands in Los Angeles.

Actually, it’s from a late album, “Sur la mer,” from 1988.

Eight Days A Week - The Beatles

Back in 1965 there was talk of creating an eight-day week by adding another day, to be called Maury Wills Day, between Friday and Saturday. This would create a three-day weekend. For some strange reason, the proposed name for the new day was particularly popular in the Los Angeles area but probably not so much in San Francisco or the Bronx.

Perhaps the Beatles were anticipating this development.

You can't afford a new raccoon coat because of the Depression and they don't serve alcohol at the stadium because of Prohibition, but you can still have fun on a Saturday afternoon in 1931.
